I did not realize how much the hot weather had affected my sleep until it cooled off. This morning I was dead asleep when the radio came on. That has not happened in forever. I was sleeping good, too. I dreamed that Roomba volunteered to do the dusting while it was on its vacuuming rounds.

I had to go to another building on the Microsoft campus this morning and it was so wonderfully cool out. The thermometer on the dashboard said it was 64 degrees. It wasn't overcast but the sun wasn't hot bright either. It was SusanDennis Perfect!

Microsoft has a whole lotta buildings in the immediate vicinity. And they have this very cool shuttle system. If you want to go from one building to another and don't want to walk - the mileage between buildings can be hefty - you can hop on a shuttle. On some parts of campus, they just ride around and you hop on and hop off. On other parts you have to call one. Every building has a receptionist. You just stop at the receptionist and say 'Can I please get a shuttle to 42?' And pretty soon (people bitch that they take forever but I've never had to wait more than 5 mins for one) here it comes.

Mostly they are van kind of things but they do have some very cool hybrid cars and I got one one of those today. It is sooo quiet. I mean freakily quiet. You can't hear it pull up and stopped at a stoplight you can hear the tires breathing. It was a fun trip. Plus, I wrote down the wrong building number for the meeting I had to go to, guessed at what was the right one and guessed right! This good luck is really getting frightening.

There is a woman who rides part way on my bus in the mornings and in the afternoons. She looks to be about 40ish and gets off and on at the University of Washington stop. Every day - both ways - she has her copy of the latest Harry Potter book with a pick post it note book mark and every day she reads it. And she's been doing this since the day it came out!!! It's amazing. I'm not a Harry Potter reader but I've never heard of anyone taking that long with one of those books. PLUS it's not like it's a tiny little tome that one keeps in one's backpack to pull out and read a little of every day... (Bible Boy on the morning bus - his Bible is small and leather bound and every morning he pulls it out of his backpack, takes it out of its cardboard box, reads for about 5 minutes and puts it back.)

Anyway the Harry Potter lady is about 1/4th the way through the book. She is really getting her money's worth.
