Not happy with idiots

Again some random dude has matched my phone number with my webcam and feels compelled to call and tell me he can see. He's calling some some very loud place - sounds kind of like a call center.  He can't hear me say that I am fully aware that I have a webcam available to the public. (I don't need to answer the phone.)

Again some random people think that this personal journal is a little piece of social media where they should feel free to leave disrespectful, stupid and offensive anonymous comments (which I delelete).

Yes, I can eliminate these things by securing the webcams with passwords and removing the ability to leave anonymous comments from this journal and someday I might. It is interesting that these things go in waves. Hopefully, they will both soon wave away.

I still leave my network unsecured to this day, with the same mentality that my Dad had regarding locking his truck - "If somebody wants to steal something out of my truck, I can either have to pay to replace whatever they took OR I can pay to replace whatever they took AND a broken window".

I admire and appreciate that attitude. I remember well when an unlocked car or unlocked house was not a requirement to go in and take what was not nailed down.

I rarely look at the old days as good but that part really was better.

I only locked my network down about a year ago and I still feel guilty about that. My neighbor below me kept smoking me out of my living room with his noxious cooking on his grill (he was roasting tires, I swear - while he was sucking free wifi from my connection.) My password is one that would be your first or second guess.

We secured our network when we had obnoxious neighbors using our WiFi but they couldn't bother to be civil. Locked out, Dude! :)

I don't understand the people who feel the need to be disrespectful on other people's journals. O.O
