My brother and I are having a great time. We're just hangin' and visitin' and doing this and that. It's very companionable and fun and interesting.

Today's agenda is still forming. I think we'll do the Chihuly museum and whatever else happens. We have dinner reservations at Fare Start's guest chef night but we might change our minds.

The replacement TiVo Mini arrived and I can't get it to work either. Sigh. Still trying. I'm fairly convinced that some combo of rebooting the Roamio, the router and the Mini will make it work with forced calls to TiVo HQ in the mix but I haven't hit on it yet. Still trying.

My replacement Roamio fails the same way its predecessor did. Tech support said try setup with Ethernet connection instead of wifi. I bought a long cable, but it still fails the same way. Loading channel information. 72%. Time to call again.

Wow! That's terrible! At least my problem is only with the Mini. yikes. And ugh.

Current theory is that the (brand new) cable card is bad. Next experiment is to replace it and try again. I'm mildly skeptical.

oh yeah, that sounds 8 kinds of fishy.

my feedback from the TiVo Community forums sounds like my issue may be solved by waiting 72 hours which would sound fishy to me but there are too many 'yeah that's what I did and it worked...' comments.

But, as it turned out, it was the cable card. At least, when we swapped it out for a new one, everything worked.

Now that you are 'fixed' maybe it's my turn. I'm oddly committed to this Mini idea but am beginning to think I need to un commit.
