If you are a tax payer in King County, Washington, you can rest assured your taxes are not being wasted on frivolous ancillary bus services. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the Lost and Found office is just a window with two people who are really there to do other things. After you wait in line forever, they take your information and disappear for 30 minutes - go on break, do their real job, whatever - and then come back and tell you they can't find whatever it is you lost.

But, really, when I'm in charge of the world - can't come soon enough for me - my bus system would not pay a bit of attention to Lost and Found. If you are stupid enough to lose it, tough.

So... I sent a note to the library, confessing my sins and asking how many Hail Mary'$ they want.

That's pretty much my day. The shelf guy was here again today. At least he's showing up now and again and he is very very very tidy. Seriously. And I appreciate that.

And just as I typed that paragraph, I got a note from Sheri saying that he thinks (and she believes) he will be through on Thursday. Friday she will come arrange all the stuff on the shelves and.. we can finally declare the project finished!

Mariner game tonight a 7 and that will be it really for evening games this week until Friday. And in just two weeks the new TV season starts. I must say that it is not so meaty... Actually, it hasn't been much meaty in several years. But, the mid season stuff and odd-network add-ins - like The Closer, House, Wanted... They've kept it interesting. Oh and Nip/Tuck starts a new season - finally - on September 20.

I'm a ramblin' rose. Jake and Betty are giving me the evil, Time For Dinner, eye. Since we started this wet food stuff, they are electronic timers. 5 p.m. is dinner time and they kick in with the pre-announcement starting about 4:30.

Bummer about the book. Going rate for a paperback with KCLS is about $8, flat fee. The library's probably happy that you've even fessed up.

Next time try the bus website... The lost and found is online, and you can chat with someone. They'll go look for it while you dink aoround on the net.

Perhaps you could purchase another copy of the book and hand that over? I was able to do that here in Philly and I saved a couple of bucks. The librarian seemed quite pleased to get a replacement book instead of the money.
