So. Out my front door, down the street, around the building just west of here and then 3/4ths the way around my building and back in is 10 minutes 30 seconds and 1041 steps. I used an app on my phone. It's totally flat. Half in sun and half in shade. I carried nothing (no bag, no purse). I did not run out of breath but definitely breathing harder than if I was sitting.

It is not easy to walk and do breathing exercises at the same time. I need to get better at that.

I need to pay attention to my posture.

The elcheapo earbuds by the front door are NOT acceptable. But, I dug out a lovely set of very old, comfortable and totally doable Panosonic semi-cans for next time.

I need a dog to walk.

I'm not going to be good at doing this twice a day every day. At least not without a giant struggle.

Good for you. I tried walking on an inside track about a month ago and 10 minutes was too much, was down for 3 days with the pain. Hope to try again as soon as it's warmer. Managed a a15 minute walk at home DVD with no ill results so wondering what the difference was..*shrug* .. You certainly inspire me so I'm gonna keep trying till I get it figured out.

It will seriously get easier once you're used to doing it every day! And you might even start to enjoy it. :)

I highly recommend something called Yurbuds that I bought on Amazon. You like gadgety improvements so you ought to like these; they are earbuds designed for the tiny twisty ear canals of ladies. You sort of rotate them in - no pressure - and they feel just fine in there.

Good for you! Is there a local animal shelter nearby where you could volunteer to walk a dog?
