The project, she is over...

BUT, that is really not the news. The news is the artwork that Sheri did today.

This is what I left her. My only direction was to get it all onto the shelves.

She used the shelves as a canvas and the stuff in these boxes as mixed media and she created a work of art that is the story of my life, completely illustrated and organized and grouped beautifully. It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen. I can't stop walking up and down the hallway.

I need to figure out how to photograph it in a way that captures at least some of its magic as well as documents what she did and what is there. And it ain't going to be easy because of the angles - hall's too narrow and shelves are too high. But, that's a project for this weekend.

For now, here's a tidbit:

Some of those teacups are part of the teaparty set my Mom had when she was little. The rest are from her Mother's collection of teacups. The book facing out is a Golden Book illustrated by a family friend years and years ago. The baby at the very top is me - it's a tinted photograph. The egg looking thing on the shelf above the teapot was painted by my great aunt and in the middle of the picture are some of my original Nancy Drew mystery books.

Here is a very bad picture looking down the hallway. I may have to take a bazillion shots and knit them all together.

Wow, you may think the photos are crappy -- but the shelves still look awesome.

Wow, you know I have to give her some credit now. I had no idea how extensive the shelf project really was. I kept thinking you were talking about like 5 shelves over a desk or something like that. It still shouldn't have taken this long, but wow, that looks gorgeous.

I am so happy for you that it is done, and now you can enjoy it.

I love the shelves. Hubby was going to do something like that in our living room. Will see if we are staying now.

I just love it!!!

We get the idea.

She's good. She thinks both big and small; filling that huge wall wiht one continuous project is a grand idea, but executing it so it doesn't feel like it is about to fall on you is even better.

She is good at design.

OK, I admit it, she's good. I thought (said too I believe) you'd rather do it yourself, but I see she really does know what she's doing.

That really looks good - I thought it would when we were there, but the proof is in the pudding. It was worth all your agony going through this project.

She's a clever one, that Sheri. Now you need to take her out for a glass of wine and tell her how pleased you are - despite the little bumns along the way - with what she's created for you.

I stumbled across your site while trying to track down my puzzle lady susandennis.com Looks like her site was hijacked :(

Just wanted to let you know that I love your hallway shelving! It sounds as though you had someone do it for you (and took longer than expected!) I wouldn't mind trying to do something like that myself. Do you know somewhat how the shelves were made??

Hope you enjoy them, they look like fun!
