So... now I have a spy/mal/adware problem on my machine. I know exactly how it got there (clicked on the wrong website... sigh) and can invoke evidence as soon as I use IE to google (or probably any seach engine) to find something. Nice.

It's part of the repair/reinstall XP plot. And, I guess it's working. I do want to get the condo pictures onto the web host in some kind of organized fashion first. So I really do think I'll wait until next weekend.

I am a morning person. It would be a huge mistake to try and tackle something that is a guarantee to piss me off, be tedious or require logical thought - after work on a school night. Huge mistake. So, I'll just use FireFox for needed googling until then.

The Microsoft AntiSpyware and Lavasoft's adaware both find what looks like the culprits. Both sear to me that they are destorying. Both are lying sacks of shit. Even after repeated scannings. I may try Spybot Search and Destroy. And I may just say fuck it.

Roomba tried to eat a half knitted teddy bear today. Choke city. Emergency rescue. Bear and Robot are fine now.

The national media keep telling me that Ophelia is ready to charge on Charleston. Mom says Not Until After The Tennis. So far, Mom appears to be in the lead in this race. Who the fuck pissed off whoever is in charge of hurricanes this year?

Today is laundry and baseball and website/photo updating and the usual knitting and stuff. All details, will, of course, be recorded right here.

I've got laundry, football, internet and my knitting.
I love these laid back days.

OMG!! Same thing that happened to me. I got mine from Dogpile (appropriate name) I think, or some music site I went to when my grandaughter was here. I have tried everything to get rid of it. I will be watching closely. I have been busy backing up files. I am cleaning stuff up, so not all bad. It will be nice to get rid of all the crap on here for the past couple of years. I am sure it will run better. I am going to try I think. I can't deal with the crap that pops up.

The website I clicked on (accidently) was one that houses illegal software (generally shareware with the registry keys filled in). The problem I picked up is called AproposMedia. There is much information out there about it but I cannot tell which is valid so I have decided that it's not worth screwing with. I am going to do an XP rollback for now - to last weekend.

I think I may be wrong about the aproposmedia. I did roll back and the extra pop under screens seem to be gone but the spyware still finds, and can't kill, aproposmedia.

Still going to reinstall/repair probably Saturday and you shall (of course!) hear all the details!

From what I read, sometimes that is the only way to fix some of these things. I have been backing stuff up. I am sure I did not get it all, but I will try when I have a chance.
