This whole new pool thing on Saturdays is just genius. I'm so glad I thought of it. At my regular pool it was a lucky Saturday when I could get in a whole mile before it got too crowded or some asshole took over the lane.

At my new Saturday pool the lanes are much wider so there is actually more room for assholes but they don't ever show up! Today I shared a lane with a sprinter. It was pretty fun. I had been doing my usual tortoise mile* all alone for about 15 minutes, when this dude got in. He'd take off just in front of me, which normally pisses me off because it means I have to slow down or stop but he was fast enough so that I didn't have to slow down one bit. He'd go one length and then wait. I'd do 5 and on my 6th, he'd shoot off again. We did that for 45 minutes. It was kind of fun. Then they pulled the lane lines out for class and we had to stop.

I call my swim a tortoise swim because I get in and just go - front crawl without stopping until I get to a mile or, in this case, until they pulled the lane lines out which was about 400 yards past the mile mark.

When I got there this morning, two coaches were wrapping up with two different kid teams. As it happened both coaches used to work at my pool. It was fun to see them again.

After my swim, I headed out to a local diner legend that sits in the heart of the south Boeing plant. Randy's was there waiting, I think, when Wilbur and Orville made their first flight. It's actually a lovely spot for a Saturday breakfast. I may do that more often.

And then home. I still need to walk 20 minutes but I also need to take a load of trash down to the dumpster and get the mail so I'll wrap it all together into one task here in a bit.

I still have a not-nicely productive cough from my lung adventure of last week. It's not quite so bad - at least I don't have to wear pee pads any more (TMI? it's a girl thing) but it is still there and it sounds gross.

Zoey is play with her wand toy that goes round and round while she chases it. Those batteries should be winding down here pretty soon. When it is off, she stands on it and whines until I turn it on. But it makes her happy.

I went to Randy's for a breakfast-dinner Thursday night. I love that they're always open, and the prices are lower. It's a great destination for a night ride. I have done that bike ride lately because of all the Bertha business.
