The newspaper this morning tells me that there are three football events at the stadium that is my front yard this weekend. Tonight, tomorrow evening and Sunday afternoon. Tonight's is a high school game which generally is not a factor. Tomorrow is Washington State University and Sunday is Seahawks. Both of them mean that any car errands I might want to do need to be carefully timed. It's not a huge deal. There is plenty of time around the events to go do whatever it is. And anyway I wouldn't trade the drama and fun and noise and general mayhem that accompany these events. It's like having a giant party in your front yard that you don't have to prepare for or clean up after and if you get tired of it, just shut the door for a bit. I can handle that.

Mostly my plans this weekend are computer dependent. On Saturday morning I'm going to do the repair reinstall of Windows XP on my desktop. If all goes well, it should take about an hour. If it doesn't, chances are good that it will turn into a reformat, net new installation of XP with reinstalling of all of my software which will likely eat up the weekend and then some. I'm resigned to the task and ready.

Also on my todo list is fixing the ceiling fan. The fan has black blades. When they are spinning around, you can't see the dust. But, I turned it off the other night and noticed that the blades were dusty. So I dragged out the ladder and dusted them. It turned out to be a not very smart thing. I have very bad balance and to get to the blades, I have to stand on the top rung of the ladder with nothing to hold on to. Stupid.

But, what's worse is that apparently in my dusting, I unbalanced the thing and now it clicks and makes other really annoying noises when it does run. This really pisses me off because 1. I have no clue how to fix it and 2. I am afraid to even try because if I get back up on that ladder again without someone or something to hold onto and fall and break something critical, I will deserve the crown for The Supidest Person In The World.

So... I haven't figured out what to do yet. This is one case where online friends are not quite as handy as in person one.

Edit: I just remembered that my neighbors who are out of town (so can't help) have a taller ladder. I can go get that and then have ladder to hold onto when I'm up futzing. And I'm sure it just needs a jiggling.

There is lots of TV to watch on my TiVos. New season stuff, too. Yeah! And bears to make. And while I'm fucking around with the computer, I might just as well get the file drawers organized. Those new hanging folders I bought aren't going to fill themselves.

And my friend, Kieran, needs a birthday present. And it needs to be très clever. If all else fails, I can always go to Sur La Table. He'd love anything from there, but I'd love to be a little more clever. He's doing his own birthday party next Friday. Should be fun.

Hi, neighbor! Thanks for friending me; it looks like we have more than a few fun things in common.

P.S. Love what you've done with your condo.

I'm dizzy just standing on the ground so standing on the top rung of a ladder makes me want to faint just reading about it. I've got to change out one chandelier for a better one. I'll either fall, electrocute myself or both.
Good luck.
