(Sorry about the subject line - I'm on medication and not responsible - not really but that's the excuse I'm using anyway.)

It's done. And wow what a huge hole! I mean a family could camp in there. Geesh.

It was not fun. And I think it's going to hurt. But it is still really numb. And I have stitches. I have prescriptions for an antibiotic and percocet but I don't know if I'm going to get the filled or not - I'm not big on drugs and I've spent enough money on teeth this year. I stopped at a pharmacy on the way home but it wasn't open yet so that pretty much was a sign to me that I probably don't need the stuff. Tylenol will probably do fine. He wants to see me again next Monday. But he promises he's just going to look.

[livejournal.com profile] joyofmacsplanted the seed that grew into a full good idea and that is taking the day off. I did not sleep worth a shit last night and I have been traumatized so I am going to just have a day for me. I have a sweater to work on recorded TV to watch and book to read and bed to sleep in and I'm just goint to enjoy it all.

Oh and I found out why they don't want you to smoke... They don't want you to suck on anything - no suction - it works against the blood clotting you need to heal the wound. Good thing I no longer smoke because I can guarantee you that tiny corner of my lips that is not totally numb would have had a butt in it before I left the parking lot - suction or no.

When I had all four wisdom teeth removed, I did fine on just the tylenol - 500 mg. Check with a pharmacist about the percocet. What I did was get my pain meds filled, and I found out I could safely take one of them with one of the tylenol. So I took one tylenol at a time, on the theory that if it turned out not to be enough, I could add a pain pill safely.

By the way, if it hurts when you open your mouth, you've opened it too far. Though that was probably more a worry for me, where it was in the back and I could mess with it doing that. :)

Did they tell you to take the antibiotics as a preventative? If so, get it filled and do it - if they told you to use if needed, it can wait, but holes in your mouth are really vulnerable to infection. (And, having had one of mine infect - it's not so much painful, as it is worrisome and really gross....)

You are already on the road to recovery. That is great. By the way did you want one of those pinwheels I showed some time ago? If you still do send me an email and we can get it taken care of. ron...

Percocet. A favorite. I know you have spent enough but you can't beat the comfort and JOY of having a bottle of percocet in the medicine cabinet. They are wonderful to have on hand for when the mood (esp back pain) strikes.

Good thing I don't feel about booze the way I feel about Percocet.

Yes, the anti-biotic is good, too.

I survived. Going to write a post about it. FOUR times with the needle in the eye!

Am so glad you made out ok. I was wondering.

all done!

ouch -- stitches -- the pain should not be too terrible but you MUST, MUST, MUST guard against dry socket -- that WILL hurt like a SOB -- i would still take advantage of the drugs though -- pain is different for different people
