It is nice to be here at work a computer that remembers what I want. My home one will in a while but now doesn't know me from Adam. For now, it's like talking to a stranger but not in a good way. I did get the Ethernet controller problem solved. The computer at home is maybe my 3rd or 4th Dell and never have I ever used any of those gazillion CDs they include until last night. I easily found the exact FAQ for my problem, the answer for my machine and it said to use the CD so I did. Worked fine - didn't even want to reboot.

Now I need to switch the modem connection from USB to Ethernet and everything will be good - except for that one annoying web cam that just won't install. Poop.

I forgot to watch or Tivo the Emmies last night. But, I'm ok with that. Although I watch a lot of TV, I don't generally watch what every one else does. I never did like Raymond. I tried Desperate Housewives and couldn't get into it. Ditto, Lost. The only reality show I have ever watched enough of to count is that fun thing that Kathy Griffin did that is over now and certainly no Emmy material. I don't get HBO or Cinemax or any other premium channels.

I like Rodney. I still like ER. I really like West Wing. I love all Law & Orders. (I don't like any CSI's - I know, makes no sense.)

I've watched some of the new shows. I kind of liked Bones. I kind of like Head Case. I didn't like Twins but it was interesting to see Sara Gilbert in something other than an election. I didn't particularly like War at Home but there was one line in it that was funny enough for me to give it another shot. The rest - except for the sci-fi, lost/medium wanabes - are lined up and ready on Tivo.

Crocs now makes boots but they are $60 and they only come in Navy and Sea Blue. I don't like either of those colors well enough to plunk down $60. I'll wait. I'm giving this not-spending thing a fairly serious go. Instead of buying whatever it is that strikes my fancy whenever it strikes it, I'm going to see if I can not spend for a while and get some savings built up so I can pay off the equity loan, build my emergency stash again and start saving for new kitchen appliances. The Discover Card people are probably going to send someone to my house to see if I died.

We have similar tasted in TV I see. Some I never heard of, but most of your choices are similar to mine, but I like some of the reality TV.

Have you heard through the grapevine that Dell is really propietary now? I heard that if I had a newer Dell, I couldn't buy memory or anything for it except from Dell. I heard their customer service was switched to India also, but lots others have too.

I am on my third or fourth Dell, and I have been so satisfied with them.

I must not have been clear. I have no issues with Dell at all. I have been extremely happy with them. I just wondered if this propietary thing makes any real difference.

The only problem I have with Tech support in any country is whether or not I can understand what they are saying. I don't care where they are either, as long as they can help.

Soo... if you get that third camera working do you think you'll lose the printer again?

So what's office XP going to cost? Does it add anythinig much? I'm kind of tempted to put together a new Shuttle machine with XP, maybe even the 64 bit version.

So what would they charge you for the latest Visual C++ or is that called Developer's Studio now?

Only $60.00? Where?

I have Office XP Pro and an Office XP that came with the computer, I am guessing. You are welcome to the Office XP if you need it. I am not using it, so might be legally ok, but as you said, it doesn't come with access.

Funny, I would have expected you to get into Desperate Housewives, I'm not sure why.

I hope The West Wing continues to be good this season, and I also kind of hope this is its last season; I think it's run its course.

ER still has its season pass here, even though I think it's probably past its expiration date. We watched the first "House" of the new season last night, and as usual one or other of us (it was [livejournal.com profile] jwg this time) said "I don't know about this show..." -- but it still has its season pass too.

We're going to give "E Ring" a try, but I don't expect to like it.

Oh, you're way ahead of us. We haven't even reached the stage where we need a second TiVo yet.

I knew the boots were coming and was mildly curious to see what they'd look like. Very interesting. Not sure how useful they would be though. I've got concerns about breathability in the shoes. (and I already have a pair of Jelly boots that don't breath. They are enough of a lesson in how bad boots are that don't breath.)

Yeah, the color choices arent great. I'd be happier with a pink. I'll happily wait for your review.

You probably did have the same jelly boots, they were a knitting thing. (thankfully If found mine at Value Village for 5 bucks)
