I want a goldfish. The last time I had a goldfish, I bought it at Woolworths and after two lovely, swimingly years, I had to give it up for adoption when I moved. The 12 year old who adopted it - the son of a friend of my boyfriend at the time - sent me pictures of it for several years afterward. I don't know why I never got another one but I want one now. But, Woolworths is long gone. I could go to [livejournal.com profile] melodysk's but I'm thinking Homeland Security (or DNR) would never let me bring a goldfish into this country. So I'm stumped. I need to research this.

On the bus this morning, in the seats behind me, were two women talking very very loudly in a language that was foreign to me. I mean very loudly. When we stopped at a traffic light the people in the bus next to us looked annoyed. Apparently, in their country, they do not know the concept of indoor voices. I am usually able to tune shit out fairly well. I had my earphones on and NPR turned up very loudly and still felt assaulted. When I finally escaped off the bus, the roar of traffic on the freeway sounded melodious! (I did think about turning around and asking them to please speak more quietly but my social conscience got the better of me. What if they did not speak enough English to understand? What if their culture decried inside voices? What if, what if, what if... I'm such a looser.)

It's hair dye time again. This is such a nice haircut. And it looks so crappy with my hair being bout 42 shades of mismatch - gray + natural dirt brown + red from leftover dye jobs... This needs to be fixed. Plus I need the texture that dying always gives my hair.

I think I have figured out what will end this contract here at work. I need to think about it some more but probably should make those thoughts a friends only entry.

I want a goldfish.

You need to make friends with a political reporter who looks like TImothy Busfield.

I am pretty sure goldfish are easy to find. Probably even at a Walmart or somewhere. I am impressed you had them so long. When I was a kid I don't remember them living very long. Probably my fault, and I am sure I have some suppressed guilt about that somewhere.

Good luck with the job replacement, selfishly, I am looking forward to hearing about it.
