Years and years ago, Live Journal used to go down routinely. Once Twitter came along, when Live Journal went down Twitter would light up like a Christmas tree. One year, I remember, it seemed that Live Journal went down every Sunday for a couple of months.

And then, it stopped. Brief outages happen maybe once every 6 months or so. Then, this week, we get two or, since I'm able to write this, one.five. Since I can get to the home page and other pages - just not any journals or friends pages - I got the idea to download the phone app and try that... voila! No problem there. Interesting. And, of course, Twitter is virtually silent about Life Journal...

I have been writing and reading on Live Journal since 2002. The journal writing part has gotten better and better and better. The reading the journals of other has, since there are so few 'others' these days not kept up. But, it is still an integral part of every one of my days. I hope it's fixed soon.

It was cool enough yesterday and last night to leave the door to the terrace open. It's been a while since I've heard outside sounds from my bedroom at night and in the morning. Today is supposed to be even cooler. Nice. So nice.

This morning, I'm planning on checking out the West Seattle festival. It doesn't start until 10. So I really don't want to start my hour+ swim much before 8:30ish. I'm killing time, having some cereal and internetting until time to go.

The festival is only about 3 blocks from the gym so I can leave my car in the gym parking lot but... the 3 blocks are all uphill. I'm worried that I won't be able to make it up the 3 blocks. I think it's worth a try. If I can get up there, the festival is on flat land and getting back to the car will be downhill.

There is another festival going on in the International District. I may check it out tomorrow. Having this cooler weather makes way more possible.

I miss those days, before everyone went to Facebook. I still think LJ is the best.

I established an account for myself (same name as on LJ) at www.dreamwidth.net, and now I use that site's cross-posting capabilities to post to LJ. DreamWidth is a code fork from LJ's open source project a few years ago.

Since DreamWidth is hosted in the USA, there are no Russian DDOS attacks.

Also since Dreamwidth cross-posts to my LJ account effortlessly, I post there and read here.

Haven't had run into many outrages on my end. Guess it widely varies on what computer bank and time zone a person's LJ is on whether or not you get the gremlins running amuck.
