Today will be the closet sorting.  It got bumped off yesterday's schedule due to the fact that I got lazy.  Today is hair dying.  And clothes laundrying and sheet changing.  I also need to return a couple of library books but that really means taking the car out and there's a Seahawks game here today.  So I think if I do decide to do that, I'll just plan it for about a hour after kick off.  Should be easy to get the car out, make a quick run and get the car back.  I should walk but it's just a hair too uphill for that and I am lazy.

I cannot believe I am even thinking about this.  The ad pullouts in the morning paper seemed to be all about kitchen appliances this morning.  And I caught myself looking.  My appliances area all 13 years old.  The dishwasher doesn't do a great job and would wake the dead.  The oven doesn't really work right but I don't use it anyway except for storage.  The refrigerator is ok but I could do better.  The washer/dryer will probably go any day now.  I could replace them all including the microwave with good full featured ones for about $3,000, I think.  But, while I'm fucking around with them, I think I'd like to get a storage expert in here to make sure my kitchen real estate is maximized and as handy as possible given the space.

But, I am not going to do anything about it until I get some cash stockpiled.  I hope everything just hangs on long enough for me to do it right.  I'm thinking possibly next Spring.  Maybe.

But, right this minute, it is chore time.

Two years ago (last house) we got one of those low noise dishwashers. Kind of a middle priced one. It was wonderful. When I got the appliances for this house, we got the same and I love it.

I understand they have clothes washers that are low noise too, but pricey and I can just close the door, so not worth the extra money.

I had to buy a full suite of new kitchen appliances at once in 2001, after a bit of poking around I ended up shopping at Sears (their tagged prices were mostly much better than the likes of Best Buy or Home Depot/Lowes, and many of the Kenmore appliances that can only be acquired from Sears directly tended to be highest rated in Consumer Reviews I researched at the time). The best part of the experience was finding their salespeople are empowered to wheel-and-deal like I had never seen before, knocking a few hundred off of each successive appliance.

I have a front-load ("he"=high efficiency) clothes washing machine, and I adore it. I doubt that I save enough on water/energy to make up for the steep purchase cost, but it cleans clothes so effectively, is quite gentle on the fabric besides, and it is uber-quiet.
