Becky's apartment has smoke damage and her hamster lived. The apartment building is, apparently, a mess, but apart from the smell and some water damage, her stuff is ok. I had a small fire once - started by a plumber - in a condo I owned. It did little fire damage but the place smelled like burnt popcorn for weeks and the soot was on every single thing - even inside drawers. It was not fun.

My email is unhosed finally. I got a dump of nearly 3 days worth this morning. It was my ISP's mail machine. Not good.

When I got home last night there was an envelope stuck in my door full of tax receipts for the teddy bears! When I gave my neighbors the first batch to deliver to the battered women's shelter, they asked me if I needed a tax receipt and I told them I didn't. But, I guess the shelter thought otherwise and there they were with lovely little notes where it asked "contribution description", they had written "beautiful hand made bears that are now loved".

When was the last time a tax receipt brought tears to your eyes??? And the timing was kind of fun, too, because just yesterday I discovered one of my yarn sources was having a sale and ordered up a bunch more yarn and stuffing. I also started the process of replenishing my eyes and noses. I love that I stumbled on this project. It is just perfect for me.

When I reorganized my closet last weekend I found two pair of jeans that I had forgotten about. I'm wearing one of them today. They are comfortable and look fine. It's a sad state of affairs when you have so much stuff that you lose close in your own closet. And that's after having gotten rid of more than half my stuff just six months ago. Geesh.

As [livejournal.com profile] teasdale says every once in a while and again this morning... Time to make the donuts...

Time to make the donuts...

Heh. Not only did the "time to make the donuts" guy retire years ago, but it's even longer since any Dunkin' Donuts ad has given any indication that the chain even sells donuts.

Ha ha, tough luck. You may be an accidental hero, but that's just the way it is, you've still done something a bunch of people appreciate and you're just going to have to live with it :D

It must be a really good feeling to know that something you've donated is not cast aside, but truly appreciated.

You're a nice person and all of us devoted readers here have known that for a long time!
