All I need was an excuse
Oct. 11th, 2002 12:57 pmI've been wanting a new computer for home for some time now. The problem is that this one just will not get crappy enough to justify replacing it. Finally today I got the ticket I needed. A friend of mine is setting up a computer lab for a non-profit organization and needs a server. He says.... 'any chance you would be willing to sell that computer of yours?' Sell it? Sweetie, I'll give it to you. Yahoo!!! I get a big tax deduction. He gets a lovely server for his lab and I get a new computer! Plus, he'll come get this one when I'm ready. No hurry. No worries. What a wonderful deal all around.
Did I waste time conjuring over a new one? Heck, no! I just went right for another Dell. Top of the heap. Pentium 4, 1 GB of memory and all the bells and whistles. Plus, got $50 off for charging it to their new credit thing (90 days interest free at which point I'll just send them the whole amount) and $99 credit on shipping and $150 off price for internet special. Nice. Still cost half of what this one did new 4 years ago. Not good for the computer industry but I'm happy.
It probably won't get here much before Thanksgiving but that's ok... In this case I can use the time for delicious anticipation.
