TV... so far... no winners
Sep. 26th, 2015 03:50 pmWhen I watch a show for the first time and, at the end, cannot wait for the next episode, it's a winner. That really does happen fairly rarely. And, so far this Fall, it has not happened yet.
The Muppets got abandoned at the second commercial. Should have been the first. I really have no history with them anyway. I was born too soon.
There was another 30 minute show that went the same way and I cannot even remember what it was!
Today I watched Rosewood and Limitless. Neither was a winner and both had serious flaws but they didn't suck and I watched to the end and I didn't kill the instructions to record the series so maybe... but not definitely.
I've made good bear progress and it's still afternoon. I'm hopeful that I can make up at least some of the bear deficit.
I got a giant kill-a-forest packet from my Medicare Advantage insurance company today. It's re-up time next month. My costs will rise. But, not that dramatically. And no more than other plans available to me. It could be so much worse and I can afford it. The biggie is the drugs. My two every day inhalers are little gold bricks - well, they are priced that way. My rescue inhaler, which is already a pricy little bugger, is going up 300% in cost to me. I think I'm just going to plan on no rescues. It's never been a big savior anyway. And my insurance does not even cover my stop coughing pill. It's a buck a pill but worth 10 times that when I need it so whatever.
The one thing that the 4 booklets and website do NOT tell me is whether or not Silver Sneakers will be included in 2016. Silver Sneakers is the program that gets me into the gym and pool for free. All over all four of the booklets was a telephone number to call with any questions at all - 7 days a week from 8 am to 8 pm. So I called. After getting 19 points of identifying information and stopping short requiring a DNA sample, the dude said 'so how can I help you today?' I asked whether Silver Sneakers will be included in 2016. 'Oh that's a medical issue and I only handle drugs. You'll have to call back on Monday.' WTF????
I think I'm going to have Amazon bring me dinner tonight. It's still free delivery. And free delivery ain't going to last long, I suspect. So I think I'll take advantage while I can and this time I know what to order. Will fill my dinner plate and freeze the rest.

Date: 2015-09-27 04:20 am (UTC)I watched Rosewood and my number one thought was when they were doing the autopsy and were wearing no protective gear except gloves. Not aprons, masks, nothing. Um. Even the dumbest, most unskilled show gets THAT detail right. Even if the body was already free of fluids!!!
But like you, I'll give it another shot. Both NCISs I liked, watched NOLA tonight. Limitless looks like that show from a year or so ago with the guy from Lost. That folded, not sure if this will be better, but I'll try. I haven't seen the muppets yet, but I'm excited because I grew up with them. (b. 1974). Blue Bloods is new too, and I'm a sucker for tom sellick even if that show is blatant police propaganda!!

Date: 2015-09-27 04:30 am (UTC)Rosewood was almost 100 percent flaws. But that actor is so pretty to look at. I wanna look again :).
I am not big on NCIS backstory shows so I ended up fast forwarding through most of the episode. I did appreciate Jon Cryer, tho.

Date: 2015-09-27 11:21 am (UTC)I watched Rosewood for Morris Chestnut---very pretty to look at. I also noticed the missing protectice gear during the autopsy. I fell asleep before it ended...not a good sign. I think all that 'witty' repartee (sp?) wore me out.
