My foray into old papers netted me interesting stuff and success.

I actually did find all of the paper to go with the hot water heater... the purchase, the receipt, the installations docs, all of it AND it carries the information that my hot water heater has a lifetime in home warranty!!! It's not transferable to clearly they do not expect me to still live here when it fails. Haha to them! But, yeah on finding all the correct papers. Wow. I've thrown out sooo much paper over the past few years, it's amazing that this crucial bit survives.

I also found very first tax card from the county. Every year they send out a card with the current assessment for property taxes. I found the one from 1992. It's a little yellow.

But the bonus was a copy of this newspaper article/photo.

My Condo was really, seriously builder white. Bubba was the best cat. He was born on a farm in Minnesota. He moved with me to California and then to Seattle. He finally died after many years in 1999. He was the world's greatest cat. And he majored in snuggling - anytime, anywhere, anyplace.

That story is a blast from the past. I remember how people used to make such a big deal every time they noticed a business got a website...Wow even the pizza shop has a website. What do they need a website for?

I remember the owner of the shop where I got my hair cut back then just grilling the bejeasus out of me about whether or not or why she might want a website and how to get one and on and on and on. She kind of grasp the first bullet and then totally misunderstood all the rest. It was hilarious.

I love that clipping. I worked in the computer labs at UNM from 1994-1997 and it was such an interesting time to be on the internet and playing with early design.

If I could send 1994 self one email, it'd be some domain names I could snatch up to sell later. I'll never forget in 2000 or so when the rep from jobs.com came to the ad agency where I was working. I asked him how much that domain name cost them. $4 million.

I met a guy online once who had the domain name par3.com - it was his initials and the initials of his father and grandfather.

One day, this woman contacted him and asked him how much he'd be willing to sell the name for. He said he wanted to keep the name so he just tossed out $100,000.00. She said, fine. We'll pay. And they did!!!

And then... about a year later... I got a job at PAR3! (True story - they were right across the street from where I live.) They later changed their name to something I can't remember and moved then were bought by a different company that is now across the cross street from where I live!

BUT BUT... remember, in 1994 and 5 and maybe 6, domain names were free. I got susandennis.com and a few others. And then, they started charging and for several years they were charging $75 - $150 a year per domain name!! So the only one I kept was susandennis.com

I think your 1994 self would have wisely gotten out of the game :)

I love everything about that photo, including the fact that you kept it and found it again and that you had that as part of your history.

I enjoy your posts very much.

It was kind of a treasure find. Every time someone comments, the photo pops up in my email with the comment and I see it again. Just now, I spied for the first time, the ashtray. I was a dedicated smoker ... and the monitor stand - 2 reams of printer paper!

But, mostly, I'm really missing that darned cat today.
