Ok, I no longer think my itchy back is simply dry skin. It's just too persistent. It itches all the time. All. The. Time. The smelly antihistamine spray works for about 15-20 minutes. Ditto any of the lotions I've tried. Last night I took a non-drowsy allergy pill which didn't do much for the itch but man oh man did I sleep! I woke up once and went back to sleep immediately and that was it. I didn't even get up to pee.

Depending on the light, it looks like it might be a little reddish. Or not.

I'm madly trying to figure out what I might be doing differently, soap, water, clothes... Nothing is different. It would be horrible to find out it's the pool but I've been in that pool every day for five months. So why now?

This is making me a little nuts. I'm going to take my Japanese wash cloth and give my back a good soaping/scrubbing after my shower. Maybe it's 5 months accumulation of bromine.

After my swim, my day is clear. Nothing on the agenda. I do need to get out and walk.

The house cleaner is due on Wednesday for her once a month sprucing and it's just in time. This place is kind of a mess. I don't feel like I've been messier than usual but the house feels like it for sure. ugh.

Pool time now.

With me, it was a combination of BOTH the fabric softener (those little dryer sheet things) and laundry detergent. It wasn't until we went to the "free/clear" (no perfumes, scents, or dyes) version of a laundry detergent AND a matching unscented fabric softener that I stopped having itchy skin issues.

Buying a bottle each of an unscented/undyed detergent and fabric softener and using both of them to wash one week's worth of bed linens and clothing is a fairly easy way to determine if this is a skin contact problem.

If that doesn't solve it, then you can start looking at variables such as the pool water, etecetera.

I just bought those Japanese wash cloths! My only complaint is that they're too long to simply wash my face. I tried cutting one and found I need to hem it or it will fray. I have it all pinned and there it sits because I have so many other things to do first.

My daughter suddenly started breaking out in hives from our pool. Although weirdly, it only happened in one of the two pools we used to go to.
