Wrapped with a bow...
Oct. 4th, 2005 12:48 pmValued. Needed. Interesting how in the past couple of days I've come to realize how important those things are to me.
I had to call Mom just now - an invoice came in and I wanted to make sure she didn't write a check for it (because it needs to come out of the trust account). I remarked here earlier today about the key marbles she's lost and I think more have drifted away since then. She told me just last week that California Closets was going to cost $1,000. (They are doing a massive job in her new apartment.) Today, she said that no one ever told her how much it would cost. It's not a huge issue except an indication that she is losing more every minute.
I explained my concern and why and she said "Thank you. You are handling these money things so beautifully and I appreciate it so much." Plus she told me that her friend, Libba, is having a huge fight with her daughter over Libba's finances. "I'm so glad I don't have to worry about any of it - that you worry for me."
What a lovely gift for her to give me.
Then she went on to tell me that her oxygen was running low. She said she called the oxygen place this morning. "Well, actually, I dialed wrong and got the Ford dealership. I told him I was running out of oxygen. Poor guy, I think I really shook him up."

Date: 2005-10-04 09:34 pm (UTC)Makes you wonder if that poor guy at the Ford Dealership is pondering whose oxygen is running low?! Next time, maybe she can call HIM and get a faster response than the regular guy. ;)
What is so delightfully candid and fun about them is that you really couldn't make these things up!
And..more seriously, your Mom is fortunate to have you looking out for her (even online..no, especially online.)
