I had a lovely swim. I was all alone in the pool for the first 50 minutes and then, all of a sudden, it was crowded. Weird but fine. My headphones of choice died. I think they've been failing for a while and I didn't notice but today one of the ears just quit. I had a spare pair with me so I slapped those in and wow. Made my whole swim better. The people who made my headphones of choice are coming out with new ones that I already bought but won't be delivered until closer to Christmas so I'll make do with the spare until then. I think I would lose interest in swimming if I had to do it without music.
Today was an early swim day because of the aqua fit class so I hit traffic coming home but I knew it was going to happen. So I just tuned into a podcast and relaxed. I've been listening to some millennial podcasts... just young adults talking about what's important to them. It's fascinating.
I was an idiot as a young adult myownself. The stuff I didn't know was vast and my ideas about what was right and good and valuable and important were skewed way way differently than what I have since learned and believe is more true.
In light of that realization, listening to what these people think and value and talk about is really fascinating. If I didn't have the historical perspective of me, I'd be beyond stressed about the future of mankind. But, since I do, I'm just fascinated.
I won't be around to see what kind of world they make but it will probably be fine and dandy and 30 years from now, they will be listening to the 'kids these days' and shaking their heads...
When I was in my early 50's, I had an hysterical conversation with my mother about her grandson. She had her panties in a pretzel about his lack of ambition and constant screw ups. He's just ruining his life! I was able to remind her of all the years she thought the same thing of me and, yet, I had kind of turned out ok... She snapped back into reason immediately. It still makes me smile to think of that. (And, for the record, my nephew did have a rocky start but is now clearly on a really good track.)
I have nothing on the agenda today. It may well be a talk to the teriyaki place day. I need to walk more and the weather is perfect plus dinner for two nights for under $10. It's such a win win. They close at 3 so I will go about 2ish.

Mostly it's someone mentioning one somewhere or someone on my Twitter feed who's a guest on one... I generally start out with TWIT and NPR and when I've heard all of those, I go trolling for more :)
