This makes NO sense!

I reset LJ to send all comment mail to gmail. (Before the test entry was posted.) Then, I set up gmail to send a copy of all LJ email to my regular email account. Then, I read that, in fact, my regular mail had had a problem this morning at the ISP. It appears now to be resolved. HOWEVER, my little test is raising some really interesting questions... (I feel so jimcarson with my little chart here...)

1. What's with the stupid way LJ keeps time? My settings say Pacific time and my computer is set correctly...
2. How come some of the stuff never even got to gmail???? But, some did? And in no particular order???

Oh and I still have not gotten Mom's email from earlier this morning. This is making me crazy!

The holes in the chart, plus the bizarro times, are a little frightening.
I will testify under oath that I posted my comment at around 11:30 am PST.
Could have been 11:09, I suppose; I was barely awake.

LJ has some squirrely notions of time. For a while, it was based on the timezone of the particular machine processing your transaction. There's a preference field that's sometimes used. Soemtimes not. (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=156)

Then I saw the rest of your answer and thought 'he's really blowing up my skirt this time... I just read that FAQ last week!'.... But, knowing you, I thought I'd better make sure before I challenged you... And sure enough they have changed it since last week! I do love that answer tho... 50+ words to say 'beats the fuck outta us'.

I'm glad that you read it last week. Last time I saw it (~4 months ago when the same question came up), it was a completely different way of saying "hell if we know. Hey look, more emoticons!"
