I forgot to mention that the new TV Guide arrived yesterday. Due to my mysterious free subscription, I get it every week now and this week is the new, improved, big version and I must say, it is quite nice. It's no longer the major grid from hell of every TV show that was scheduled when the data was sent for printing which appeared to be a good month before the mag got to my house. It is now a nicely sized, nice looking kind of People Magazine of TV. I may even pay them some money if, when my free subscription ends in December, they ask nicely.

The new and improved TV Guide sounds good.

I haven't seen it yet. I work in a doctor's office and we started getting a stack of them free every week, so since there are only a few of us working there we put the rest in the lobby and hope the patients take one when the walk off with our newest single edition of PEOPLE.

Interesting. I just saw a commercial for the new one, with a lady saying "get rid of that black and white stuff", and it worried me because it sounded like they got rid of the actual schedule. We'll see. They change their format too often for comfort, but they are sadly misinformed about what's on TV a good lot of the time.

I assume they've gotten rid of the schedule on the assumption that everyone has access to live schedules on their guide channels or whatever, which are more accurate anyway.

We only ever got TV Guide for the schedule, which has been getting less and less useful over the years anyway. And TiVo knows all this stuff anyway. So we'll probably let our sub lapse when it runs out (almost two years from now, unfortunately).

It just arrived, and there's enough schedule left for us to get by. We don't have cable, thus no guide channel. Even so, I still am attached to being able to look up stuff on actual paper. Much as I enjoy watching cable in hotels, often as not I end up buying a paper (or TV Guide) for the TV schedule.

This new version is pretty spiffy.

Cool, bet I get my new one today. I use the one online more than the mag, because it at least gives me my actual channels. I like to look at the mag though.

Totally off subject, but right under your TV Guide entry on my friend's list was this:

I saw the picture first, and thought it was a new pattern you'd tried.

I think I'd like the new format. Do they still have "Cheers and Jeers" and the super-easy crossword though? They were my favorite parts.
