I thought about selling my new/old sewing machine but it's too heavy to ship handily and selling locally is just not worth the bother. I thought about taking it to Goodwill but it's just too good to get tossed in with the broken stuff. I thought about the free shelf in the garage but, this isn't a building of sewers. So I took it to the fabric shop.

My fabric shop is an outlet shop located upstairs over a warehousing operation. There's a tiny little stair landing where they have a trashcan and a bulletin board of specials right past the front door. So I made a big sigh "Free Sewing Machine - works perfectly. Needs a new home." and taped it to the box and left it there near the trash can.

Then I went on to deliver the bears. On the way I stopped at the Mercedes place to look at the 2016 Smart cars parked in the lot. It was far enough away from the show room that I could get out and look without being accosted by a sales guy. The colors are not good but the shape is wrong. And the seats have this ugly white stitching and the dash and controls are ugly. And the grill is cheap looking plastic. And I don't like 'em. At all. One bit. Not even close to being tempted.

So it's time to love up my car. It needs a good detail. I need to look in to that. I have zero clues where/how/how much. I will find out.

The grocery stores in this town have quit stocking Diet Dr. Pepper in resealable small bottles. Finally, on the way home, I stopped at Cash and Carry which is basically a supply shop for small restaurants and delis and bought a case.

Oh I stopped back by the fabric store on my way back home - 15 mins or so after I left the machine - and it was gone. I hope someone who really wanted it got it and will love it.

Now I'm home and heating up pizza for lunch and then sewing.

hint: Find a coupon/groupon for the detail... it's really overpriced otherwise. But it's sooooo nice to have a nice clean car! (Nathan's car finally arrived from the shipping company and I am so psyched to have my car to myself so I can keep it clean and pretty and nice. I'm absurdly in love with the stupid thing...)

Good tip! Thank you. I was just looking around at options and there seem to be lots so now I'll go look at groupon, etc.

How many miles do you have on your car?

I like keeping my car until it is unreliable. My current car, a 2004 Subaru Outback has ~103,000 miles and is fine. Occasional I get a Check Engine light (it is always the same error code - I have a device to read the code and reset). And the front speakers don't work. Not really enough to get a new one.

I keep thinking I'd really like to get that speaker problem corrected, but it probably requires a whole lot wiring-replaement, for which a dealer would charge many hundreds of dollars. Replacing it with something after-market is also a possibility, but kind of a hassle to figure out. We'll probably just live with it for the remaining life of the car.

Oddly, the Check Engine problem, which is more apt to occur in warm/hot weather, surfaced a couple of days ago -- and then reset itself sometime yesterday evening, either on the way out to the dance in Concord or while it was sitting parked while we are at the dance. It doesn't usually do this spontaneously.

Oh, and while I'm here: I'm pretty sure the car is a 2004.

The Smart Car has a Check Up light - time for a checkup. You don't ever do interim oil changes or engine checks, just haul it in when the Check Up light comes on. The next checkup will be an expensive one (they check every single thing) so I'm saving pennies waiting for it to turn on. Might be any day now.

14,500 BUT, with this daily 9 mile trip to the gym and back, I'm adding new ones fast! hehehehe In 2011, I traded in my Ford which was then 12 years old and had less than 25,000 miles on it. I have one of those OBD readers, too! Just got it. Fun.
