No big revelations
Oct. 18th, 2005 09:17 amThis desktop at work was brand new when I started here 18 months ago. It's a Dell desktop something. When I leave every day, I turn off the monitor and the passworded screensaver kicks in. In the morning, I turn on the monitor, put in the password and I'm back in biz. Last week one the of the forced updates turned on the powersaver hibernation thing. Really annoying. I came in and turned the monitor on to learn I was in some kind of power saving mode. Blech. I did not know how to wake it up so I had to power off and then power on. I found the hibernation bit in the power section of the control panel and turned it off.
This morning, I got the same damn thing. Power button blinking amber. No way to wake the damn thing up. I hate to power off and power on. It makes me cranky. I can't find any where that is tweaked to make it do this and I can't figure out how to wake it up without turning it off and back on again. It's not nice to make me cranky in the morning.
And I cannot find another supplier. I want a bulk order - 10 pounds at least - delivered. Bonus points if it comes in under $.40 an ounce. Making these damn bears is the easy part. Gathering the bits is turning out to be a bitch.

Date: 2005-10-19 03:16 am (UTC)As far as the power-save crap, have you tried pressing and releasing the power button? Some models, that pops them back out of hibernate or whatever it is (if moving the mouse and smacking the enter key doesn't do it).

Date: 2005-10-20 03:08 am (UTC)I couldn't find "stuffing" or "eyes and noses" via their online search, but the online catalog doesn't cover one one-hundredth of what they actually HAVE.
The actual paper catalog is/was a four-inch ring binder. I paid ten bucks for it in 2000, and that was mostly to cover shipping costs. I loaned it out and never asked for it back. Stupid me.
Their phone people are great - I think they only hire hardcore crafters. It's located in the heart of Mormon country and Mormon women are notoriously crafty.
And they DO answer email.
Good luck!
