I just saw on the news that a damn in Taunton, MA could break and flood the town.  My brother's first wife - Uno - lives there!!  Just as NBC is telling me this, I get a note from Mom saying she called Uno to make sure she was ok.  She is.  She is packed and ready to split if/when officials give the word but she says she lives higher than downtown so she may be ok.

We also call his current wife (#3) Trey.  They both love their nicknames which I think is such fun. We've lost track of Duo.  No one liked her except me.  I thought she was beautiful and incredibly smart (except about husbands) and I often think about her and hope she has had a much better life since she and my brother split.

They were talking about that on NPR this evening and the syntax they used bugged me to death. She said the "damn is bulging and struggling with the record rainfall." It makes sense and arguably requires the fewest words to say it is both bulging and struggling but I don't like it, not at all.

Taunton is the next town over from me. A kid that works in the labs had to stay out today because he was evacuated. Scary times with all this rain!
