Boy doll!

My dolls so far have been little girls. While I was swimming this morning, I noodled out how to make a little boy doll.  (For the record, I am making only one skin color on purpose. I cannot find fabric to represent other skin colors in a way that I feel is appropriate. So for now, they are all one body color.)

Here are the pieces all cut out and ready.

Then I assembled the legs and shoes and the arms and sleeves... we're making progress:

And then we add a jaunty chapeau and we have our boy!

There are a whole lotta things I will do differently with the next dude but I'm not unhappy with this guy.

I am in full support of a boy doll. My mom called my brothers and my son dolly-manners. :)

Also, what constitutes "appropriate" for you in this doll-making process? Embarrasingly, it never occurred to me that they were all the same color and generally whiteish. Man, white privilege is a thing. :(

I mean, recognizing MY white privilege, I wasn't saying anything about you and the dolls!!!

No, I think you're right. And you do an excellent level of hair and clothing diversity too! Honestly, I just love every one of them. I sent my mom the link to your gallery and she loves them too. They remind me of my beloved Clara (from the nutcracker) doll that I had for years.

I didn't really even understand the comment! And, it's usually pointless to argue with anyone who refuses to use punctuation anyway. :)

Too cute!

My mom taught me how to sew, but I don't think I could complete a doll in less than two or three days, let alone one. I'm amazed!

Clever... you have the most amazing focus. I'm not good at multiples, I even loathe making the second one of a pair of socks.

Yes, well, I think he looks Swiss, like he might be able to yodel -- Dutch or Swiss. He looks like his name could be Hans. :) Great cap and nifty suspenders. :)
