Happy Weekend
Oct. 22nd, 2005 08:30 amNote to self: Cure for all that ails = and evening of mindless TV. Last night I watched Independent Lens, Gray's Anatomy, Westwing and Rodney and by the time I went to bed, I was cured of my bought of pissedoffitis.
This morning I called Mom to check in. She's doing fine. And she was very very chatty. Happy in her new space. Happy about having a refrigerator for the first time in a year. (She has cantaloupe and cottage cheese and half and half and skim milk. Life is good.)
I told her that in the next couple of days "We're going to need to check your TiVo and make sure it is calling home."
"Oh, it called last night and is scheduled to call again today. I thought it called at the same time every day but it's not exact." ??!! She's exactly right. But I was astounded that she even knew how to check. This is the same woman who told me last night that her computer was on because she could see the light. Turns out after much interrogation, the light she was seeing was on the power strip.
She wants to go to Target when I get there at Thanksgiving. She wants a new bedspread and dishes and forks and ... well, she has a long list. She has never been to Target but she's see the ads and she knows they have scooters that she can sit in and wander around the store. So for months, every time she talks about my visit she adds something to her Target list. This morning she said "Maybe we should call Target and make a reservation!"
My car appointment is 9:30. I'm showered and dressed and ready to go. I have computer to play with and book to read and crosswords from the TV Guide to amuse me while I wait. Plus, as I recall from last time, it took a lot less time than I thought it would.
I have a little short list of other todo's for today and a teeny weeny little scheduling conflict tonight. World Series starts at 5 (really 5:30 by the time they get around to it), I need to be at Kieran's for Alan's birthday party at 7 and I need to stop at Fred Meyers first. Hmmm. I think the World Series is going to get short shrift. Oh well, 1st game. No biggie.

Date: 2005-10-22 06:43 pm (UTC)Anyway, I've been going through a few ups and downs lately and I just had to tell you that reading your entries are a great source of comfort to me. It's kind of like reading a very comforting on-going novel.
Strange how we can be touching someone's life without even knowing it, isn't it.
Thank you.
