This morning I am trying to find the order of teddy bear stuffing which is still MIA. I'm answering emails about John from people I haven't heard from in forever. And I'm madly trying to get my Mom's DSL account reinstated.

I got in early to get a jump on all of it and it's good I did. Cause it all needs jumping.

FedEx still shows no action on the stuffing shipment ordered on the 6th (when my credit card was charged), shipped on the 13th. The bitchy woman on Friday told me I would be called by the tracing department. Never happened. I just called the folks I ordered from who aren't answering their phone now and left a message asking them to please get me some stuffing.

When John retired last year - as is the custom at IBM - he sent out an email to a big ole list of folks. One of those folks dug out that list and sent the email that Tina sent yesterday after I called her. I had two people on my list of folks to try and find this morning and the most important one sent me a note before I could even get my looking shoes on. Bruce and John and I were a great team and worked on the announcement of the AS/400. Bruce had the technical chops. John had the marketing skills and my bit was to turn it all into speeches that inspired and sold... Bruce was so brilliant and so patient and so kind. He's the one who really taught me how to take technical information and make it not only palatable but interesting and fun. It was very good to hear from him.

I also did talk to Dick of Dick and Sue last night. They had been gone for the weekend and got my message when they got home.

That leaves only one more person but he's not a critical piece of the puzzle. I've sent out a few notes asking if anyone knows where he is and if I hear, great, if not.... whatever.

Bell South is finally back at work this morning and Mom's problem has been turned over to 'our reconnection team'???!!! Maybe if you didn't disconnect people, you wouldn't need a team to handle reconnection issues???? Tracy Johnson is supposed to call me within 1 to 2 hours. She's got 1 hour left in her window.

Edit: My bad, Tracy turns out to be of the 'he' pursuasion not the 'she'. And he called just after I hit 'save'. And he was as nice as he could be. He said she should be 'turned back on' by 3 p.m. Eastern time and he told me what to expect and when I thanked him as nicely and profusely as possible, he even gave me his direct line and told me that if there was a problem after 3 p.m. to call him directly first and he'd conference in technical support. Whew. Looks like this may well work out fine. 1 down.

There's a lesson about thanking nicely and profusely. Thank you very much for the lesson. :-)
