Some mornings reading http://susandennis.livejournal.com/friends is just like opening presents on my birthday. Surprising and delightful beyond measure.

[livejournal.com profile] trapezebear actually uses the word antimacassar in one of the funniest musings I've read in a while. [livejournal.com profile] bruno_bt shows off his newly acquired Gay License... Oh, those Canadians! As soon as I finish this I'm going to google and see if I can find an under the table counter fitter (are there above the table counter fitters?)... I can pass. I know I can - especially if I have a license!

My new job has benefits. Said benefits kick in on the first day of the month after the first full month worked. Sooooo I need at least an hour's worth of work on Monday to so that the benefits start in December. I want to drop the ones I'm paying for and get my eyes checked and I'm still afraid of that tooth not holding out much longer...

I know the head guy, Jim (that's actually the title on his business card) has been gathering projects for me and saying 'soon' but not actually getting to the 'ok, here's what we need, now - go!' bit. I sent him a note this morning asking for at least an hour's worth of something I could do an record on Monday to get onto the books and he's said that he could accommodate. I'm confident that once the train starts, it will roll beautifully but getting that start takes an extra kick.

... This morning I'm listening to NPR report about the current White House problems and I seriously formed the thought 'why in the world aren't they giving us any follow up to the Toby Ziegler thing? Wonder how he's doing....

Guess I'd better delete Semagic off this computer... And maybe some other stuff. Later...

Covering your tracks before you head out the door then? I shifted everythinig interesting onto an external drive and took it home.

On this machine I have nothing, everything is web based. On the laptop it's just one directory, I didn't install semagic at work this time, no instant messengers either. About all they'd get is pictures and those are mostly work related anyway, outings and such. At my last place I had five years to cover up, so I just replaced the hard drive and got an IT friend to load the standard image. Ah, paranoia. Which reminds me, I used to use an MS 'powertoy' that cleared all web browsing trails. I also ran a firewall at work, I don't think anyone ever got anything unfortunate off of one of my machines :D

oh, bless you for that ...

i've always felt that way, but my feelings for this were amplified 100x at my last job, where i was often sent on witch hunts which had me grovelling through the computers and data of others who worked there. yecch!

About the West Wing thing: There was a piece (http://www.boston.com/ae/tv/articles/2005/10/27/support_for_presidential_dramas_just_doesnt_add_up/) in the Boston Globe the other day comparing and contrasting The West Wing with Commander-in-Chief, and it was mostly spot-on, but the writer (Matthew Gilbert, their regular TV critic) indicated that the leak plot was relevant to the real-life Plame investigation, and I was thinking, well, no, it really isn't.
