Fridays are the one day that the pool is never crowded. Until today. Yowsa. And having only one regular lane and one fat lane makes crowd control a bit wonky. But, I swam and it was fine. The ride home wasn't too bad either. First laundry load already in the dryer while second load washes.

Today is a doll sewing day. I did get a new machine yesterday. I was trying to decide between two. One was $200 more than the other (same brand, different models). They set them both up so I could actually use them which was cool. I finally decided to go ahead and get the expensive one. And then the poor store person thought to check inventory. They didn't have the expensive one and couldn't get it until the next day and the discount on the store model wasn't impressive. Sure sign if you ask me. The universe was trying to help me save some $. Thanks, U!

My paper cut, I think is actually a dry skin crack and it will not heal. Dr. Internet says to use superglue and I'm almost there. Right now I'm keeping it moist with antibiotic cream wrapped in gauze and covered in a finger condom. It's really debilitating to have a non functional thumb. I need to get better at keeping my hands hydrated. I'm just never not using them long enough to have them slathered in stuff. I guess I'm going to have to sleep with goo and gloves on.

I realized today - 2 months later - that the dude at the gym who set up my membership, misspelled my last name. He had my credit card, my drivers license and my Silver Sneakers card all of which had the name Susan Dennis and he managed to turn it into Susan Dannis. I'm pretty sure it makes not one single bit of difference anywhere but really ... misspelling Dennis? Now that's some kind of creative.

I get these cracks on the heels of my foot. Only one though. I call it my Zombie foot, it has the toenail fungus too. The other foot is lovely. It's weird. Anyway, I get these cracks that hurt so bad that I can't walk on my heels. I finally sucked it up and went to a podiatrist and he gave me some Zombie foot cream and it worked but I think it just worked because it was cream and I remembered to do it because the prescription cost $20.

Anyhoo, he recommended superglue too, and I found some that comes in a little jar with a brush like fingernail polish and it was really easy to apply. I think I found it at Michael's. So when you get to that point, you might want to try that stuff.

Or you could try liquid bandaid - the stuff made for golfers' hands.

I use this stuff called Corn Husker's Lotion, available at Fred Meyer and other drugstores. My mom always got cracked hands in the winter & it really helps!

Also you reminded me that I need to do a load of laundry today. Sad face. :(

It smells kind of bad, but it's cheap and it works.

IF it *were* a paper cut, use Wite-Out correction fluid. I used to work in a printing plant. I needed it a lot handling paper product all day in winter. Wite-out immediately stopped it from stinging.

One of our utility bills -- I forget which one -- has [livejournal.com profile] jwg's surname misspelled. It's been like that for decades.

That's a pretty interesting misspelling. I mean, the e and the a are kinda close on a keyboard, but still...

My last name starts with a Ch. It's a soft Ch, like Shh, so whenever someone asks me for my last name I spell it instead of saying it because EVERYONE starts spelling it with an S when they hear me say it. This doesn't always work for me though, because I inevitably STILL have people start to spell it with an S even after I say "my last name is spelled C-h-..."

*sigh*

I'm thinking about changing my last name to Jones ;)

No hope at all. My wife's name is Billi (not short for anything). She gets called Bobbie a lot. I get Paul.
