Day 2 of work at home...
Jake is not a morning cat. Betty and I have now been up for more than 2 hours and he is still glued to his spot on the bed. Betty is certain that my only reason for being home is to play with her. She's sure of it. Right this minute she's perched on the edge of the chaise watching my every move. She's sure that as soon as I finish with this, my attention will come right back to her.
I got a note last night from the intern who's setting up my laptop. He said he has to do one more thing and he'll do that first thing this morning. When you work in an office in a fairly structured 8-5 environment, tossing around terms like Close of Business or First Thing in the Morning have some actual meaning. When you work in a company that is basically mostly virtual office with a 24/7 window and no core office hours, those phrases are as meaningful as when.ever.
I did manage, last night, to get my core TiVo catching up done. I still have hours and hours and hours of stuff to watch but except for a few Nip/Tuck episodes, I'm up to speed as of Sunday afternoon. I tend to run a day behind when I'm caught up so I'm counting myself caught up.
I still have holes in the wall from the Sunday all those weeks ago when it rained in the living room. It is very minimal compared to some of the other units. They laid down plastic in the hallway yesterday so that they could limit the mess the sheet rock guys will make. You can fix my damage pretty much with a little bit of putty and a little bit of paint. Apparently some folks need whole new walls. Ugh. One guy (the president of the home owners association as a matter of fact) still has some of his living room furniture drying out in the garage.
Ok, back to work.
