We have winter

I'm thinking maybe the tide has turned.  It looks like we are really going to get a winter this year.  Last year the ski fields near here never even got to open.  This year most of them are opening this weekend.  No, I have not skied in about a bazillion years.  I'm only using the ski fields thing as a winter barometer.

It's not really cold yet but we've had lots of days of weather hovering about 50 with wind and rain and the forecast looks like more of the same.  I know many people hate this stuff but not me.  I love it.  I love picking which sweater to wear.  I love wearing my new rain boots.  (Target web $19.99)  I love picking out a hat.  I love not being hot. 

I hate to be greedy and I don't mean to say that this isn't enough but if some snow could happen to fall in my neighborhood this winter, I'd be so doing the Dance of Joy.

The condo assistant manager was here yesterday with the painter in tow.  They said that to fix the four tiny holes in my ceiling, they will need to repaint the ceiling of my whole condo.  WTF?!  We chatted.  They explained and I said no. They explained some more and I said no.  We did this for a while and finally,   I won.  It doesn't need repainting.  I could fix the four holes with toothpaste and no one would ever know.  I am not putting up with painters painting my entire ceiling less than 6 months after it was just painted.  Geesh.  They will paint the walls where the holes are.  That's going to be annoying enough.

I'm waiting for the expert to send his comments.  They were due by midnight last night.  His expertise does not extend, apparently, to calendar integrity. 

I've got another project I can get started on so I think I will.

Snow up there already? My 'winter conditions' trip is looking like a real possibility then. We have a fine light rain here this morning, at least Alameda did, south San Jose has nothing.

You are only the second person I have ever heard mention the toothpaste trick for fixing small holes.

I do not know where I got the toothpaste trick but I've used it for years. (Not so wonderful a trick in the Southeast where bugs are rampant - turns out they love toothpaste.)

I saw it on Hometime, they were showing how to patch holes in drywall using a wall they were about to rip out, they'd done big and small holes and at the end they just mentioned that if the hole was really small you could just stick toothpaste in and nobody would ever notice.

Hmm. Heavy snow. Well, I have three sets of chains but I guess I'd best pay attention to the forecast. If the major mountain roads are closed I'll head for BC instead.
