Mom's campaign...
Nov. 15th, 2005 08:48 amMom's working on my last nerve. In an effort to ensure that my dread of next week's trip has a solid foundation, she's really laying it on.
Every single day, sometimes twice, since last Friday, she has told me that she found her tax return from last year. I actually didn't care last Friday. And I still don't. She wants to look at it to determine how much she should donate to whom. She has barely enough taxable income to warrant even filing a fucking return. It's all handled by a very kind and nice CPA.
Finally this morning I said
Plus, she said she had sent me a note this morning and I allowed as how I hadn't seen it yet. That sent her into a fit about how I just wasn't looking hard enough and was just trying to piss her off.
After we hung up from this lovely conversation, I VNC'd to her computer and discover that the note she sent to me was in her inbox, addressed to her.
Oh yeah, I'm so looking forward to the trip.

So the only reason you donate any money away at all is so that you get a tax deduction? And then we moved on to the topic of a friend of hers daughter who died. In the newspaper, the death notice requested that donations be sent to animal shelters. Mom:
Yes.
You realize that your deduction, if you even get any, is minuscule?
I'm not going to discuss this with you any more..... [oh, don't I wish!]
That is so stupid. Everyone knows that when you die you should only donate to diseases and churches. That's just ridiculous.Oh yeah.

Just remember to vent about it all by writing about it in your journal -- because you have a way of relating everything that annoys you in a most entertaining way.
