Last night was hot. I think the a/c is going to have to work harder and I may have to sleep in the living room. The next 10 days are all sunny and hot. At least it will soon be over.
When I was little, on the east coast, it started getting hot in early May. (I remember going back for a rare visit to my folks and standing by the car to go back to the airport. May 6 and it was 90 degrees with 70% humidity at 6 fucking am. I could not get back here fast enough.)
Here in Seattle, we have very few 90 degree days at all. And they are confined, usually, to August. And we never see 70% humidity at all. If it hits 30, we're all dying here. Again, August. It used to turn cool over Labor Day weekend. I mean sweater-required cool with all the hot behind us. But, in the past few years, I know I'm still bitching at least the first two weeks of September. But, then it is really is gone. Whew.
Starting the day with a swim really does help. No matter what it's like outside, inside the pool, the water is clear and cool and cleansing and refreshing and the perfect way to start the day.
If I can keep the sewing room cool enough there will be lots of sewing. A doll I made yesterday gave me the idea that making a couple of dolls with hijabs would probably be a nice thing to do. I figured out, during my swim this morning, a good way to do it. I'm not going to try and give them flowing covering garments but a head piece for a few would be nice, I think.
That's really my plan today. Sew and stay cool. Baseball is back tonight. I already lost the ground I made up in bear production somehow. Today's schedule calls for completion of bear #5 and that will happen but I wanted to get ahead and I didn't... yet. Maybe I can fix that tonight during baseball.

Date: 2016-08-12 04:39 pm (UTC)My issue is vanity. The in room units don't look great - not horrible but not great. And the outside compressors are HUGE and loud and ugly and would mean I'd have to give up a whole storage closet.
I do love that for most of the year, I can roll my a/c completely out of sight and out of mind. But one long hot Summer will totally change my mind on it all, I'm sure :)

Date: 2016-08-12 06:56 pm (UTC)The ones I've seen in action didn't have very big outside units, but then they were only hosting one or two inside units.
And if you're only inconvenienced a little on one or two really hot days, why fix what ain't broke?

Date: 2016-08-12 07:04 pm (UTC)The funny thing is, that when I lived in California, I did love the sunshine. It was 25 years ago and before my cataract operations (so my eyes were not as bothered), but now the thought of it makes me want to pull the shades down low!

Date: 2016-08-12 08:56 pm (UTC)I try to just stay inside, and really not go out at all. My car has no AC which doesn't help matters haha.
It's usually 90 degrees in F 32, in Celsius.
The humidity makes it about 104 F and in the low 40s in C

Date: 2016-08-12 08:59 pm (UTC)Ok car without AC??!! That's not right. AT all. I had a VW once that had AC but it was really bad bad bad AC so I sold it fairly soon after I got it. The car I have now is tiny and has great AC, I crack that sucker up so that by the time I get where I'm going, it's like a meat locker!
Hang in - humidity kills.

Yeah, it's an older car, but still going strong. I just try to make sure I'm on a road where I can be going fast with the windows down lol. I might get AC in as a after market piece, but it would probably be way too much to do.
For sure it does.
