snow??!!

They are now getting serious about this snow thing.  The weather people are saying actual inches in downtown mid afternoon.  Daytime snow is the best.  I have to be at Microsoft at 2 today for a meeting.  IF snowing by 1, THEN susandennis taking bus to Microsoft. 

I had a fun lunch with Susan and Kenny.  Susan's last day is Friday.  Kenny is getting cuter every year.  He is now sporting a very cute haircut and he was wearing a beautiful sweater.  He's a small guy and knows how to dress to make his stature work for him.  He still has the same girlfriend he's had for more than a year now even tho (or maybe because) she spends most of the year in China.  She's coming here for Christmas.  She better take good care of him.

I talked to Mom this morning because she forgot to send her morning email.  She was kind of flakey and annoying but she did have a great moment of clarity.  I had sent her the thing about John.  She said 'I know there was friction between John and his siblings but if you can believe them, it's nice to think that maybe he had at least some awareness of his situation and some choice.'

Sometimes she just 'gets it' better than anyone I know.

I miss my friends who have died.  I miss them all but today and all days, I feel a special tragedy for those who died as a result of AIDS and those who suffer from it today.   ruralrob shares his early experiences in his entry today.  It's bad enough to have such a devastating blow to your health but to have to suffer emotional punishment as well is a hell I cannot imagine.  For those living with it today and those who have gone on...

I have fond memories of some posts you used to make about Kenny. Didn't he used to have a desk next to you?

He did, indeed... He's just the cutest kid. Born and raised in China and moved here 10 years ago when he was a junior in high school. His folks still live in China. He's a delightful mix of cultures.

Still rubbing it in. At least we have rain, and interesting road carnage (no injuries though).

Well, hold on to that in case we actually see a flake. While most years predicted snowflakes never actually materialize, there was that one time in December of 1996 when they said that we would have lots of snow the next day. At 9 a.m. that next morning it started snowing and didn't stop until there were 18 inches.

Thank you... and those like you who somehow manage to summon up the energy, will and drive to help everyone else understand that AIDS is not a news report or a statistic or a shame.

However, you could have at least pointed out that I spelled AIDS without the I!! (fixed now so that window of helping for you is now closed...)

I have fingers crossed that you get the white stuff this time Susan. I also hope that you do better than us last week when MOST of the UK got snow and I saw only 3 snowflakes :)
