A couple of weeks ago, I snipped the skin on my middle finger. It bled a lot and took several days to heal (swimming probably didn't help it heal faster). About a week later, I did the exact same thing to the index finger next to it. It finally healed mid week last week. Today I did the same damn thing to that index finger about an 8th of an inch below last week's snip.

WTF?? I've been wielding scissors since I was little. I've been using them in sewing for about 60 years. I have been making these same little cuts on dolls for a year. Why the fuck can I now not avoid the skin on my fingers?????? I have these extra long band aids which really work well on fingers because they don't cover the knuckle and do wrap around twice to stay on nicely. I bought a lifetime supply when I first found them. Now I'm down to the last few.

But, I did manage to make some dolls without getting them bloody. The new felt (seen in the blue haired one) works great - especially when cutting out glasses. This is cool because it comes in lots of great colors and is cheap.

Those dolls look so cheerful!

Isn't it crazy when you just suddenly get a rash of some minor injury - biting your finger or your tongue, or stubbing your toe or something. I've had that happen.

I think they might be cheerful that they escaped the bloodbath!

It's just weird but, now that you mention it, stuff like tongue biting and toe stubbing does seem to happen in clusters... I guess my best hope is that this finger snipping follows the Rule of Three and today's was the last!

Oh, I love the little vest. How about a tutu? Ever put "shoes" on them? So creative. I love seeing what you come up with to make them different and fun.

Thank you. Making each one different is the fun of them for sure.

I've had a couple of tries at tutu's but none that I loved yet*. Ditto on shoes. Some of my earliest dolls had shoes but they turned out to be more of a Pain in the Ass than cute :)

*However... that stuff the vest is made out of is new... I have not tried a tutu with it... stay tuned!!

I have been doing the same thing recently with my thumbs. I keep injuring them in ways that make everyday living annoying. Maybe it's a cut or a burn, or I scratch myself with my own tiny fingernail, or I just look down and I'm bleeding? WTF. I am convinced that it's the universe's way of telling me that if I am not more careful at this whole "being human" thing, I'm going to be knocked down a few rungs on the food chain.

As an aside, I like reading your journal. You live near me and I like reading about the places that you are talking about and trying to guess which and where. (Toulouse Petit for croque madame, maybe? Ha. You don't have to tell. I love cajun food, though.)

How did I not know you were near me?? Please don't ever hesitate to ask. This particular croque was Cafe Presse over on 12th. I'm not a fan of cajun food but I do love french food so crossover for sure.

I haven't been to Cafe Presse - I avoid Capitol Hill these days (although many years ago I lived on First Hill and worked on Broadway for quite some time). I hate what has happened to the neighborhood.

More recently I was living in Greenwood and working between Fremont and the U district, but we moved to West Seattle last March and I am staying at home with Lu. Viva Seattle! :)

Ha! You must, then, really get a kick out of my West Seattle bridge moans! That pie shop I went to last week - it's the new one AlaMode. Highly recommend. I love West Seattle.
