Well, there has been minor progress in Mom's email situation.  Two of the test notes I sent did get bounced notes back clearly indicating that the problem is temporary and the delivery would be retried for 2 days.

I also sent off a couple of queries to my hosting companies to see if I could find a cheap deal for some kind of mini hosting deal that was really for email only.  I'm very not happy with DirectNic who first told me there was no problem and then, 5 hours later says the problem has been fixed but 'millions of emails are now backed up and have to go through the system'.   Yo, dudes, pick a story and stick with it, please.

One mystery is this laptop.  I'm not a software expert but I've got even less expertise in hardware.  Most of the time, when my cursor pointer lies on a hyperlink, it will automagically open that hypelink.  I cannot find any control or setting for this.  But, what's even worse, I cannot replicate it at all times.  It's making me a little crazy.  I'm not beginning to think that it is something about how I am holding my hands on the keyboard and/or inadvertently hitting some key or button or bushing the touch pad.  nuts!

I have two work projects to do today.  I'd really like to get them both done but only one is really promised for today.  So that's the one I'll start with.  I have to incorporate edits into a 50 page doc.  The tricky part is that the document is in Adobe's InDesign which - in my world - is a very scarey desktop publishing program that I have no idea how to use.  Fortunately, the edits aren't, for the most part, tricky so maybe it won't be so bad.

But, first I need a shower - I have a new shower head that needs a virgin run.  And then maybe a little breakfast.  Then I'm on it.  Really.

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] bemocked!!

I hate touchpads with click on. I click on stuff all the time brushing them. If you go into the mouse settings in the control pan, most touchpads let you turn that feature off, so you have to use the buttons to click. You might try that - if it's a brush or bump of the touchpad clicking for you, that will stop it. Unless you use the touchpad itself for clicking by tapping it, in which case turning it off would be a problem. *wry*

What she said. I was about to make a similar reply and noticed it had already been made.

If you don't find a hosting deal that you are happy with, send me an email. I rent server space for my clients, it's kind of full but I can prolly stick something on there for your Mom if we aren't talking many gigs a month. You would have to transfer the domain, of course. But, you would have access to the control panel to set up your own forwarding, and black holes, and spam assassin, so forth.
