Google came out with a new trick today. It's PhotoScan - a way to get digital copies of your print photos without taking them out of the album or frame.

It's a fun trick. Not perfect, but kinda cool. I pulled some really old bad quality pictures off my shelf.

This is me in 1985 with my father's cousin. She lived in Offenau, (what was then) West Germany and popped over to London that Summer to see me and my Mom who were there for Wimbledon. Daddy gave Mom the trip for Christmas but at the very last minute he couldn't go. I got the greatest call at work one Monday morning "So, wanna go to London all expenses paid... on Thursday?"



My Mom with my brother's kids, both of whom are now in their 30's with kids older than they were then. Mom's pearls are cracking me up... Sure, go outside and play in the inflatable kiddy pool but don't forget your pearls!!



My parents on their wedding day with their parents in 1948. You can tell who belongs to who by their height (or lack of it) alone! The short couple are Mom's parents and the tall ones there on the left are Daddy's.



Judging from the size of the first grandchild, this photo was Summer of 1979. That's my husband (we were married for less than 2 years) on the far left. Me. My sister. My Mom. My Dad. My brother's first wife (she still signs her emails 'Uno' which cracks me up). My brother. And Alex (my Dad called him Alexander The Great but that soon became ATG. Today he's a psychologist to at risk youth in Boston and has two daughters.).



Fun little jaunt down memory lane.

Somehow I sat funny and 1/2 of my lower back is really sore. If I'm careful after my swim tomorrow, it will be fine. But right now it's annoying.


My swim friend, Barrie, who's been barred from the pool by her doctor for more than week comes back to swim tomorrow!

I did got a bear finished and a couple of dolls made so nice day. I have two chicken thighs marinating in a soy/honey sauce and some stuff (NOT the bear/doll kind) all ready for dinner. I made air fried french fries for lunch and they were just absolutely perfect. I finally think I've got the temperature/timing/oil spray exactly right.

Did your parents marry terribly young? Your dad looks like he might have been all of sixteen in that wedding photo.

OMG isn't that wild? It was his burden and he felt it. He was 24 in the picture (Mom was 25). He was in sales and his Dougie Houser (WAAAAAY before Dougie Houser) looks were a real problem. He finally grew into his face and filled out his skeletal frame but you nailed it. 16 or younger!

My dad didn't look his age most of his life, but he looked older than his age when he was a teenager, and then looked normal in his twenties and then younger than his age from the time he was in his mid-thirties until he was in his nineties. When I was younger I was more like your dad, and the last time I got carded in a bar I was well into my thirties. It could be really embarrassing. The first time I didn't get carded in a bar I was right around thirty!

Wonderful wedding pic. So much fun to see old photos. How tall was your dad?

I love the hair styles on these dolls. Are the dolls fairly easy to make? I am a complete beginner at doll making but I thought it might be fun to try making one.

He was about 6'3" until he hit about 70 and started shrinking.

The dolls are VERY easy to make. The instructions call for sewing them up except the top of the head and stuffing in from the top of the head and then stitching it together. I don't do that. I sew the head to the body, tack the arms on and then sew around from the bottom of the body on one side, around the head and down the other, turn inside out and stuff, add the legs and then stitch across the bottom of the body. I also have fatter arms and legs than the pattern because they are easier and I like the look better. But, seriously VERY easy to do and fun and soooo rewarding. Plus, if you hit a snag or have a question, you know where to come!! :)

(And, thanks about the hair... it's fun to come up with different ways to do it.)

Great pictures! All of my mother's photos were destroyed in a flood about a decade ago, which included all of my childhood photos and pictures of relatives, etc. And I don't think that any photos really exist of me from the time that I was 17 - 26 (aside from pictures of me on stage, which don't really count because it's not really me). Bummer, because that's when I was the most outgoing and got into the most trouble. But then again, maybe it's a good thing that there is no evidence. :)

I like their wedding photo, the height difference is really noticeable and from the later photo I see your height is a middling mix of them both, just as night be expected!
