I always find it surprising that one baby bank can get through so many! I guess there are a lot of babies/families needing assistance, though - which is a shame, but great that the baby bank and you doll factory is there to fill the need!
I am so grateful to the Baby Bank. About 4 years after I started making bears, the place I was giving them to closed down and I was faced with having to 'shop' for a new place. It was a royal pain to find. One of my LJ friends told me about the Baby Bank just before I was ready to give up the whole thing. That's now been about a decade ago.
I know of a couple of special uses... One nurse keeps a supply of dolls and when new mothers come in with siblings of babies, the siblings are told that if they are very good while Mom talks to the nurse, then they get a doll. They spend the time picking out which one.
A pre-natal clinic keeps a supply of bears and if a pregnant woman makes x number of her pre-natal doctor visits, she gets to pick a bear for her baby.
The Baby Bank lady is quite creative with them all!
If I lived in your house I think I would have terrible dreams about them all coming to life and smothering me in the night! But they're all so gorgeous, you really do an amazing job.
I think the ones at the bottom were bitching but I couldn't hear them so I ignored it. They are lucky they have these bags. The alternative are the really large kitchen trash bags. That would be very crowded.
My thought is that this makes them twice as happy to get to their new homes.
