susandennis | More snow not coming

I think the weather people here are getting pay incentives to predict snow. This has nothing, of course, to do with the amount of anything falling from the sky. It's the only reason I can think of for so many more snow forecasts this year. We have the same amount of snow as in recent years (none) but lots more forecasts.

Whacky doodle. I am not moving to Italy.

I toyed with going to Costco today. I need a new Costco card but, actually, don't need anything else and don't have space for it anyway. When my brother comes, I need to empty out the sewing room closet and a drawer for him as well as move some stuff out of his way. I need to have space to put that shit. The space is where I keep my stash of doll stuffing. So while I really need to order more stuffing - and the price is great right now - I can't because no place to put it. And no place to put any Costco haul either.

So I made extra dolls. I'll be losing nearly a week of sewing and I did warn the adoption lady that next month might be a little light. But maybe I can make up for it after all.

You mentioned this before, but I love how you are able to combine two unalike patterns so well on your dolls. I kind of enjoy that, too. We purchased this crazy patterned headboard for this bed you see below. What would I ever do for a bedspread was my next question. I found one -- and I was able to combine patterns. It's not perfect, but I like it:

OMG that is AMAZING! I love it. That headboard so cool and is gutsy. And beautiful on its own but the quilt is just the perfect find. You must have been beside yourself when you found it. What a wonderful cozy bed.

And the headboard + quilt are enhanced by their lovely feline model!

Oh -- that headboard *was* kind of a gutsy purchase for me. I saw it online -- looked at others, came back to it, and that pattern continued for close to a week. Finally I had to admit there was a reason I kept coming back to it. I liked it! It just took a while to sink in. It was not the usual choice for me.

That kind of makes it even more great.

After living with builder white walls for 15 years, I hired a designer to come in and give me color. She gave me 5 palettes to choose from. They were all olive and brown and burgundy. She taped up paint chips on the walls and went on vacation. By the time she got back I had come to my senses. No No No. I told her I wanted a palette that included at least 3 of a list of bright, tropical colors I gave her.

She argued and argued. She said that the light in the Northwest would never work with the colors I wanted. And then she said I'd get tired of them all in a few short years.

I said fine. If it was a mistake, I was ready to make it. That was a dozen years ago. My walls are various shades of lime and purple and blue and yellow. If I had to paint them all over again today, I'd paint them exactly the same colors.

Your headboard would work perfectly in my house!

In a week or so, we will be in the midst of choosing all sorts of things for the rebuild of our damaged Hilton Head Island house - - and that will include paint colors for all rooms of the house. It had all been builders white. For a few rooms that may stay that way, but I'm going to branch out with some color now. I doubt I'll go with bright tropical colors (I do have to think of resale as we probably will be selling this house in slightly less than 10 years), but I may go with softer versions of such. Olives, browns, grays, and beiges are not on the list. Rather I'm going more for soft turquoises/greens/blues, yellows, coral/peach. Our house, with it's Mexican tile (which survived the flood quite nicely!) has a rustic southwest feel (yet beachy because we're coastal).
