All chores done
Jan. 14th, 2017 03:37 pmWhen I came back from my 2nd walk of the day, I found this:

This cat makes me laugh so hard sometimes.
Now I am in the middle of exporting my gmail backup database into a file that Thunderbird can read. I should say hopefully into a file that thunderbird can read. My weekly automated back up of gmail ran today as usual and it occurred to me that having the database is great but what if I can't do anything with it? In the event of disaster, what I want is to be able to see my gmail archives locally, without gmail if necessary. So I've downloaded thunderbird and now am, again hopefully, creating some kind of viable mbox file. This is a test. This is only a test.
Frankly, I hope it's like an umbrella. If you have it with you at the ready, you will never need it. Without it, halfway home you'll run into a downpour.
Meanwhile, here are the dolls made today.

Date: 2017-01-15 01:33 am (UTC)BUffy went missing in May 2005 and we still have Keano. He broke his front leg in two places in May 2015 but he has made a full recovery.

Date: 2017-01-16 05:38 pm (UTC)Wondering if I'm missing something with the Thunderbird comments. I read my email in Thunderbird mostly (or on the mail app on my phone), but it's always there, once it's downloaded from gmail. (Even without internet.) But is that not what you mean?

Date: 2017-01-16 05:42 pm (UTC)It is ridiculous to extract a database from gmail and then convert that to a database the Thunderbird will read and import it there when...
If I just install Thunderbird and set up IMAP (= leave the shit on the server and just download me a copy, plz) I will have a solid backup always in one step.
This is what I figured out when I was trying out the data base conversion (which didn't even work!).
For my part it's extreme DOHitis. :)
