Dec. 14th, 2005 03:32 pmI needed 3 things at Costco. So at 12:15, I decided to try it. The parking lot was full but it wasn't that crowded inside. The cashier line was long enough for me to enjoy (with the guy behind me) the bizzare shit that people hard in their carts. It was great people watching.
Then I got Costco gas.
Then on to Sears for my eye appointment. I got there 15 minutes early so I scored a holiday turtleneck and a pair of Christmas socks - grand total $9.57. I am set for party attire. I love Seattle where new turtleneck - even cheapo from Sears - constitutes dressing for dinner!
The nice eye doctor gave me a new set of contacts to try and, frankly after the first 2 hours, I think we can declare victory. They are MUCH easier to put in. I can see shit - like the computer screen. Oh yeah. We have a winner.

I just got a note from Mom telling me about her new next door neighbor. They moved in one woman a month ago but she turned out to need far more assistedness than assisted living so she got promoted (demoted?) to the nursing wing. And the next on the list moved in today. She (new woman) and her husband lived in the apartments (like Mom did) but her husband died shortly after they moved in (just like Daddy)... Anyway, now she's moved into Mom's section and Mom is excited because
I've always heard she was really neat and I know she has most of her marbles left but here's the good part. Her husband was the PRESIDENT OF GENERAL DYNAMICS.When I was there at Thanksgiving, I said something about email etiquette and she wanted to know what that was and I used the example of all caps. She said 'so if something is REALLY important then it's ok to use all caps?' I think today's note was more of a homework assignment.
Conference call in 4 mins. My father used to say 'gotta go comb my hair - conference call in 5' - he died before he ever saw a web cam. It would have ruined a great line. But, then the competition was steep. Every time they raised the price of stamps, Mom said she was going to lay in a supply while they were still cheap. Yucks R Us.
