My house cleaner was late... again... with yet another excuse. I was pissed but it really doesn't matter so rather than share my pissed with her, I left for ljtourist's as soon as she got here. By the time I got home, I was far more delighted by having a spanking clean house than I had been pissed. Worked out perfectly.

ljtourist and I found a great new (to us) simple food spot today. (Ballard Smoke Shop) and then polished off a nice meal in one of Seattle's funnest cupcake/donut spots (Cupcake Royale/Rodeo Donuts). But mainly it was just very enjoyable conversation.

I got some doll faces made this morning but no dolls. Not even one single doll made today. I'm a slacker.

But my drug game is excellent. The Humana Pharmacy website today told me today that my drugs were going to cost me $330. ???? At the expensive pharmacy, the same order is generally about $200. WTF? So I called. I hate to call but for $130, I'll do it any way. Turns out... I forgot about the $200 deductible. But, I learned that the $80 I have had to pay out in co-pay for the other 3 drugs is now $0 with Humana... and the Spiriva, after deductible, will be $130. So net net a better deal - nice.

They are replacing the roof surface on this condo building this spring. I learned today that it will be noisy and loud as they toss the old clay shingles down the trash shoot. The trash shoot is going down the building in between the unit next to mine and mine. Translation, I'm going to be one of the lucky few who get the most noise. They promise it will be constant for April, May and June.

I have already decided not to get my panties in a twist about it. Worst case, I'll roll in the air conditioner a month or two early and shut the door. At least I don't have to manage the work, worry if it's not going well, put up with the people doing the work or make any decisions. Could be so much worse.

We used to eat there so much that the waitresses would call Claire the Smoke Shop Baby, but that was before they cleaned up the place and the spoons were still greasy. I remember once when Claire was getting to be a toddler, a lady in her 50's came up to her and told her that she used to be the Smoke Shop Baby.

I think what happened is that the dad retired, so the daughter took over, and decided to paint the walls and update the menu. At least you can still get drunk at 6am in the bar with the old folks if you want.

The bar part has not changed a bit. As we were leaving - about noon:30, a youngish guy came out of the bar and looked at the rain and exclaimed 'OH!' like it had not been raining all day. It was funny.

Oh man that kind of construction noise makes me nuuuuuts - at least the weather should be nice enough by then to warrant getting away from it for a while.

It took me a minute to noodle out your meaning and then it made me laugh. I'm a seasonal weirdo. Hate heat and sun. If I'm going to leave my house voluntarily, it is ONLY in chilly weather. Probably April and maybe the first week or so of May will be ok, but for sure between Memorial Day and Labor Day I do not leave the house in daylight :)

But, on the other hand, maybe you are right... maybe this will make me change my ways!

I would expect most of the noise to be during the day, and most of the games are at night. But any excuse is a good one, eh?

My housecleaner isn about 30 years late. LOL. I should hire someone to come in and help me out but I'd feel like I had to clean before she got here.


Hoping to take my kids to Seattle in July. Any off beat areas that teens might like to see and explore that you can suggest? Rodeo donuts sounds like a fun stop.

I'm so sorry but I am as far removed from what teens might like as any human could be. Space Needle? Duck Tours? I think you'd be better off Googling Seattle Teen Tourist Stops than asking me. Really. I don't even know any teens to ask!

Well, perhaps I shouldn't have said teens. I was just thinking of non-touristy places to visit. It seems every time I go to Seattle we do the same things over and over I am looking for something new. We do the zoo, the needle, the market, the aquarium, the lock cruise, the Science center, Westlake, buying Frangos... I am just looking for something a bit off beat and new. Didn't mean to put you on the spot. I will google and see what pops up.
