All is good so far... I've got three projects going for work that are all competing for my time and I need to scoot out of here in just a bit for my eye appointment.

My day started out as usual with the daily effort to either trick 'the home' into responding to my email or phone calls about the insurance form, or calling the insurance company and begging for more time.  No joy from 'the home' but I did get another week out of IDS.  Thank you.  Due to the holidays and family emergency and whateverelse they are using as the excuse du jour, I've moved my personal deadline until next Wednesday.  If no action by then, over the heads I go.  First to the assistant head of the place and if she's not there, then it's going to be Mr. Boss Man.  Set up the pins, folks, cause heads are going to roll.

And the bitch of it is, that we'll do this all again - probably just like this - next year.

I wonder how IDS gets the forms when the policy holder can't help and/or doesn't have anyone like me to fight the fight?

And the rains are still raining... inside and out. My one wall - the one that backs onto the terrace - is so wet the paint is bubbling.  I am getting used to the sound of the water dropping onto the plastic.

The list of ways it could all be so much worse is too long to even contemplate so I am a happy camper.  Pollyfuckinganna.  That's me!

Why on earth are you waiting? Call the head man now and start screaming. If someone gets their tit in the wringer (Do young people even know what that means?) so what. She should have done it already; if she gets her ass chewed maybe she'll pay attention next time.

I can understand your concern anent the caregivers...however, if you let them get away with this, they will NOT improve. They will just try to get away with more. It sounds like this is an ongoing problem with this woman. As long as she can get away with things, she will. You are there to facilitate for your mother...that is your job. Does your state have an ombudsman for nursing homes/care facilities? If so, use them. There is nothing administrators hate more than states sticking their noses in. I have found, over the years, that you need to go to the top. Don't bother with middle management, go to the head man and make sure that in addition to documenting, you cc the state powers that be.

Make it clear that you have reached the end of your patience and are going to stir shit all over the place. You can let the actual caregivers know that your problem is not with them, but with the inexcusable delays this person is causing.

My grandmother was bedfast for three and a half years, and dealing with the various agencies was a full time job for my mother. As they (whoever they are) say, "Just pull up your big girl panties and get it done."

Be welll,

Mac

Hi Susan. I live by the lights and desires of IDS, which I believe is the same IDS as yours, and boy oh boy it can be a pain. My caregiver people who have to fill out the forms have a whole big system which is very effective. I have found that working it out the way you do is the easiest way. If it's the same IDS, they're just interested in managing the bureaucratic requirements, and will understand how the care establishment might (often) fall down on the job.

You pointed out that it's a proper requirement, and yessireebob it is. Yet a pain in the neck.
