What a treat to see the new Quick Comments in my friend's feed. I love that. I also love that LJ is still doing new things after all these years.

Last night's Home Owners Board meeting was a doozie. We have a president who was once a CEO of Aldus and so knows how to handle shit and get shit done and also how to handle people. We'd be dead in the water without her. She believes that they have a decent case against Seattle City Light for damage and repair to our building. BUT, of course, it won't be quick or easy and no upfront payment so a long slog through another building issue to add to the new roof and the tuckpointing.

There are a lot of annoying things about living in a condo but when it comes to stuff like this, I am ever so grateful that I don't have to be involved in any way with all the fallout from all this mess. Very worth the monthly fee.

My bear/doll delivery is not until 10 and it's now only 8. Plenty of time to get some stuff done before I head out.

Yeah, no clue what this old/new design crap is about. Also not really sure what distinction you're making between looking at my friends vs looking at the feed. I have my main page, and I have my FList page. I was not aware that there was anything else to look at.

Weird. There's no direct way (that I can see) to get to that feeds thing other than bookmarking it separately. I have "Friends feed" link at the top of my main page, but it just loads my usual friends list page. Meh -- I'll stick with doing things old skool...

You have pointed out to me the exact reason why we are thinking a condo is in our near future. After experiencing the hurricane damage to our house, and the resulting stress fixing it up, I would like never to do this again. Condo fees would be well worth it to never have to be in charge of the repair. The only thing is not being able to control the time table or quality of the workmanship. I will say I know of a one Hilton Head condo resident who is caught in the middle of hurricane repair issues, because it's unclear as to who is financially responsible for certain repairs, so nothing is getting done. There are trade offs....

I have one of the old layouts (Flexible Squares - - I think it was referred to as S2) so I don't get quick comments. It would be a nice feature.... But - I'm not sure I want to change to the new layout. I may be wrong, but I'm not sure you can change back should you not it. I also can't see the "like" heart button. But -- imo, Live Journal is not supposed to be Facebook. We write complete sentences here! :-P

EDIT -- I just figured some of this out. There are two URL's for one's friends page. One has got "friends" in the URL (which is the one I have always used -- http://sweetmeow.livejournal.com/friends/) and the other -- one has "feed" in the URL which is the one they mentioned in the LJ news: http://sweetmeow.livejournal.com/feed/ Crazy -- I'll stick with what I have been using. Just having the quick comments are not worth it to me.

This quick comment change made me go back take another look at the feed. My biggest complaint with the feed is that the performance is dire on my 4 gig tablet. But I just noticed you can turn it from infinite scroll to traditional pages, and with 10 posts a page it is almost manageable. I'll give it a try for a bit longer. I like that they are putting in a bit of effort to update LJ too.
