Boxing Day

I'm not sure why but I've always been envious of the whole Boxing Day thing.   When Christmas lands on a Sunday, here in the U.S. we finally get our own Boxing Day.  Now that I have it, I'm not sure why I wanted it.  Isn't that so often the way...

After my work panic of yesterday - where I counted the docs and counted the days and realized there were too many of the former and not enough of the latter to get the job done leisurely...  I realized that I had counted wrong.  The docs must be converted by the end of the year.   I counted through this Friday.  The official 'end of the year', due to holidays, however is next Tuesday giving me 3 more days which is way more than plenty.  Doh.  Plus, I did manage to polish off another of them last night.

I plan to get at least two done today.

I need to go to the grocery store but I can't see that is is going to be a good day for getting out and shopping for much of anything unless you are serious about after Christmas bargains.  I think maybe in between the two doc converstions today, I'll stroll on over to the Japanese grocery.  I can get eggs and bread and a treat or two over there and the stroll might not hurt either.

I have always been envious of the whole Boxing Day phenom as well.

Ps....How was Christmas Nelly this holiday? Has Jake managed to smash any parts off her? I was hoping for a picture with Olga Noel when I bring her out to visit her sister.

Olga Noel is in the Caribbean this holiday season with my friend Chaos and her family and has promised pictures for the Moo Sisters upon her return.

Boxing Day consists of several things: you box up your Christmas gifts and put them away, find someone you don't like and box them in the ears, go stand on a soap box and shake your fist, then honor heavyweight champions like Mohammed Ali.

At least I think that's what it is.

Well, I'm actually kind of pissed off about Boxing Day. I'm about done with my library books, and I've got one that is nearly due, but the library isn't open today.

I need antihistamines and 81mg aspirin. I went to the one drugstore around here that carries my antihistamine of choice, and found them to be closed -- they close at 3:30 on Sundays (I didn't know this), today is logical Sunday, and I got there at 3:32.

I got this from my friend [livejournal.com profile] mickeymouseinoz. He's from Australia and attempted to explain to me what Boxing Day was.
