Little bits and stuff

So today I made a quick dash out to the branch library with a quick stop at the little market in the next block.  Often when I'm someplace cool, I'll think 'gee, it would be so neat to live here nor near here.'  Today I had that thought at both the library and the little market.  They are just both exactly what I need with a little extra thrown in to make them delightful and they are within 4 miles of my house with easy parking.  Love it.

I've been stewing on my CPA situation.  I found that guy last year and he wasn't terrible but he did have to redo my returns because he failed to give me the correct info (he didn't charge me, but he should have not made the mistake in the first place).  He also charged me too much - because my records were not in the order he wanted.  He suggested that he call and we get together after tax season to get ready for next year.  He never called.  I wasn't quite dissatisfied enough to can his butt, but I hadn't make the 'keep him' decision yet either.

Then today I get a big ole fat envelope from him.  And it's excellent. It has a booklet of worksheets with all my nums from last year and several sheets of tips and hints and an offer that if I get all my stuff into them by Feb. 28, they file me electronically for free (which they should really do anyway, but what the heck, it's a nice offer).  Anyway, I feel much better about him. He gets another year.

My main client that I have really worked hard for sent a note to my boss today thanking me for something I did and saying how much she appreciates all my hard work on the project. It was a nice little gift.

My Mom is having a TiVo party tonight.  She has a friend who lives there in one of the cottages.  Mrs. Thornton has a granddaughter who was on HGTV's Designer Finals.  Mom TiVo'd it. Mrs. Thornton saw it but she wants to see it again so Mom's having her over to watch it and then they are going to go to dinner together.  I think it's fun.  Mom's looking forward to showing off her apartment and her technology.

I adore my accountant, but your guy's stuff got to you already? My guy's stuff won't arrive for a bit. Huh. Point for your guy. :-)

It's a very good thing. I'm sure some people ignore it or lose it but in my case, I'm delighted and it means not only does he keep me as a client but I plan to be one of the first to get my stuff turned in!
