My Mom has this wonderful chair. It isn't as ugly as Fraiser's Dad's but it is a recliner and she loves it. And that's where she is right now. With her favorite sitter. All is good. The whole pay the sitters thing has been settled. They will get under the table money in the form of checks that Polly will write and Mom will sign. Polly was greatly relieved not to have to deal with the trust people and she said that the sitters will be much happier, too.

But, as [livejournal.com profile] qnetter point out, this ends any hope I had of being appointed Attorney General. Oh well.

I did my first pass at my taxes - filled in all the spaces on the CPA's organizer that I could and put a post-it for all the bits that are missing with notes on where/when they will come from.  I'm quite proud.

Both cats started the dinner beg at 2 fucking 30 today.  As it is only 4:30, they are still at it.  It's the only time they ever get into team work - I think it's so cute when they work together.

I used the word festuche in a note to my brother today.  Then I googled it.  A few years ago when you googled it, you got my LJ.  Then for a year or two, my LJ was way down on the list.  Like several pages down.  Today it's back near the top. PLUS, nearly all of the english sites that Google finds are using the word correctly!!  I take great pride in that.

But the reason I looked in the first place is that I'm always kind of aware that my brother might one day find this journal.  I don't think that's so bad.  He, as well as anyone, knows I'm a snarky bitch so nothing he could read here should be much of a surprise.  I don't honestly think he'd have the patience to go back through the entire thing anyway.

The workmen came by today to even out the hole in the ceiling off my terrace.  The next step is to fix it.  Then fix the wall on the inside.  I'm not looking for that to happen until at least next week.

And the folks at the bank (the ones that pay Mom's bills) got her Humana card today - that's the new Medicare drug insurance.  Whew.  I was getting a little worried that we hadn't seen it.  Or that Mom got it, forgot it, or tossed it.

My cats do that too when I'm home during the day. They'll start being restless at 3 p.m. or so. It's like they're starving!!

Glad to hear your Mom is doing better. :)

Money under the table also pretty much drives a nail in those dreams of yours to be a Supreme Court justice :-)

We always have to pay our helpers under the table. It drives the moving industry. Then we have them fill out a labor receipt and we get the most obvious fake names on them. It appears we had Bill Clinton working for us once........

the word festuche

I notice that one of the plants on the web site referred to by [livejournal.com profile] jwg in this post (http://www.livejournal.com/users/jwg/44622.html?style=mine) is Festuca filiformis, otherwise "hair fescue" or "fineleaf sheep fescue".
