Lights out

The electricity went out about 7:15. It was still pretty much daylight. I looked out my terrace and I could see the electric company guys working through the man hole on the other side of the street. Frustratingly, the apartments on that very side of the street clearly had electricity. We did not.

It was very quiet. I watched a Netflix show I had downloaded and then read my book some and finally went to sleep. (I had totally forgotten to raise the head of my bed before the juice got cut. That wasn't much fun.)

The electricity came back on at 2 am. The oven had a seizure. Beepbeepbeepbeep non stop. There was an error code showing but I'll be fucked if I'm going to stop and wait for the internet to come back so I could look up a stupid error code at 2 fucking A.M. Fortunately, the oven is on its own breaker switch so I just cut the power to it and went back to bed.

I got up at 4:30 and went to the LA Fitness that is twice as far as the green pool one. The drive sucks but the pool is way better even with the water is the same. But today it was so gloriously clear. I could see the grout in the tile on the bottom as I swam. Totally worth the extra trip time. I'm probably going back tomorrow regardless.

When I got home, I threw the breaker switch back to capture the oven area code. Only this time the oven came back on just fine. No beeps. Nice.

I have a jagged tooth that is cutting into my jaw. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go to a dentist. The one I went to last time went back to Brazil. I wasn't wild about him or his office so I'm not going to his partner. I think I have found an option via Google/Yelp. At least I'm going to call and see what they say. The only down side is the dentist name is Dr. Fidler. And her practice is called Fidler on the Tooth. WAY too cute for me.

BUT, it's the only dentist I found with massively high ratings on yelp and google (with mentions from dental phobics) who's office group shot was not a gaggle of young chicks surrounding white men who were clearly the dentists. In her group shot, she's got all women except for one dude in the back. Much better dynamic for me.

Well. I just did call. Nice, accommodating without being gooey, lady asked if I was interested in 1 pm today or 7 am tomorrow. Either is fine but I figure 1 pm today will trim down the amount of time I have to get stressed about it. I hate and fear dentists so much. But, the deed is done. And she is mailing me the forms to fill out. I told her I had no insurance but plenty of phobia. 4 hours. I can do this. I think.

Also, I'd like it not to cost me an arm and a leg. Silvuplait.

Ok so now I need to figure out 4 hours of distraction.

Fidler on the Tooth is very silly, but hopefully it will be quick and easy and painless!

Fidler on the Tooth ... uh -- I kind of agree with you -- a little too cute and I'd be leery, too. The good reviews on Yelp would be vital. When we were here to clean out our house after the hurricane, there were LOTS of tree removal services who'd inundated the area, ambulance chaser" style -- all with cutesy names and logos drawn on their trucks, cartoon style. The more outrageous, the less competent and trustworthy I felt they were.

And -- I'm with you on that dentist phobia.... And -- the sooner the better. There are two stressors: waiting for the event and the event itself. Just get the shit over with.
